Peanut Butter Banana Pupsicles

Help your pet beat the heat with these easy-to-make frozen dog treats

Utah summers are a pup's paradise, but when temperatures rise, outdoor playtime can leave your pet panting.

Help your furry companion cool off with a sweet and healthy treat designed to be as nutritious as it is tasty.

We spoke with Kristin Voda, a veterinary technician and East Bench resident, to get the delicious scoop on our Millcreek City Lifestyle pupsicle recipe.

"Peanut butter offers protein, while Greek yogurt provides probiotics to help regulate the digestive system," said Voda. "Blueberries and bananas are full of fiber and vitamins, making these pupsicles nutritious."

Ingredients

  • 1 ripe banana
  • 1 cup plain Greek yogurt
  • 2 tablespoons natural peanut butter (make sure it's xylitol-free)
  • 1 tablespoon honey (optional)
  • A handful of blueberries for garnish

Directions

  • Blend the banana, yogurt and peanut butter until smooth.
  • Stir in honey, if desired.
  • Pour the mixture into silicone molds or an ice cube tray.
  • Add a blueberry to each mold for a fun surprise.
  • Freeze for at least four hours.

Notes:

Serve as an occasional treat after a walk, hike or play session.

For an extra-special touch, top each pupsicle with a dog biscuit just before serving for a summertime dessert your best friend will love.
