Jeremy and Aubri Nienhuser know homes possess unique personalities and vibes all their own. They offer the best window covering products in the industry with exceptional service and affordable prices. They bring the showroom to each customer with shop-at-home convenience.
“We personalize our service with complimentary consultations, allowing you to see a beautiful selection of window coverings in your own environment,” Jeremy says. “This shop-at-home experience enables you to view how light, room colors and furnishings affect your options and choices.”
They desired to own their own business to work together and spend more time with their growing family. Prior to Made in the Shade Kansas City, (MITSKC,) Aubri was a teacher, while Jeremy did re-modeling. Fate has a way of knocking at the door, and it knocked on theirs! Jeremy reached out to a former mentor for industry advice who happened to own MITSKC. He needed an installer, and Jeremy began doing installs for him. Several months passed and this mentor moved his business to Colorado, opening the door for Jeremy to become the new owner.
"All homes are unique, all styles are unique. I never force clients to purchase something I love. I find products that answer their needs. I ask questions to dig deeper into what they want, such as privacy while enjoying their view. Hunter Douglas Silhouettes or Graber Sheer shades would be a great fit for them. If they want to have a totally unobstructed view, roller shades are a great option. If they want to soften up the room or need to add texture, Softstyle Romans or Natural Woven Romans are a great choice. We can use their chosen fabric or they can pick from our selection. Alta Dual shades provide a modern vibe, and shutters are ideal for classic homes. Do they have an outdoor space they are only able to use a third of the year? We have patio shades that provide shade in the summer, hold heat in the winter, and keep bugs out as well."
He says he has noticed customers want as much light in their homes as possible during the day, while wanting privacy at night. Roller shades fit this to a T. J Geiger has developed a product for this, which when rolled up is compact and sleek, while rolled down provides privacy and protection from heat. All wires and motors are hidden inside the roller shade.
How does, “Alexa, raise my shades” sound?
“Home automation is something we are seeing integrated into new builds. It’s easier to set up shades that never have to be recharged, but many of our products integrate with Alexa, Google Home and more without needing wires,” he says. “This allows you to control your shades with voice or phone anywhere in the world. If you suddenly think about your home while sipping your favorite drink on the beach, you can check to see if your shades are up or down. Pretty nice!”
Both emphasize that as a small family-owned business, they are dedicated to a perfect product and happiness for clients.
“We are blessed to provide top-quality products to people who need them. I dislike being pushy or ‘salesmanish.’ I believe if people like me, and the products we show them solve their needs they will work with us. We strive to provide top-notch service, and I think that shows through in how we answer the phones to how we tighten the last screw on your last treatment. We want everything perfect and are blessed to serve others!”
