Personal Style Begins with a Smile

World-renowned author Jay Danzie once stated, “Your smile is your logo, your personality is your business card, how you leave others feeling after having an experience with you becomes your trademark.”

Smiles are incredibly powerful, and I find myself awestruck at the insightfulness of Danzie’s message. When a person smiles, their brain releases chemicals that make them feel happy. Smiling also makes other people feel happy because we have a subconscious tendency to match the moods of those around us. But that’s just the beginning.

A smile is a building block for a life of success. Studies show that people who are happy with their smiles tend to have greater confidence and self-esteem. These studies also reveal that self-confident people tend to get better grades, land better jobs, earn more money, and have better personal relationships. Why? Because people like to place their trust and confidence in individuals who are self-confident and decisive. It all starts with a great smile!

I love being a dentist because I get to witness firsthand how incredible people feel when they get the smile they’ve always wanted. Having helped thousands of patients obtain a brilliant smile or restore a once-beautiful smile to its prior elegance, I can say for certain that a great smile works wonders for the body and the soul. A good-looking smile lifts a person’s spirits, elevates their self-esteem, promotes their self-confidence and genuinely improves their lives and the lives of their friends and loved ones.

People often ask me how they can improve their smile, and the great news is that there are many options available, from a little tweak here and there to a total smile makeover. In my office, we start with a complimentary cosmetic smile assessment using state-of-the-art technology to create a customized treatment plan for each individual patient.

One of my favorite treatments is to straighten teeth with clear aligners. Gone are the days of unattractive metal braces that come with their own self-esteem issues. Today, teeth can be straightened in as little as six months with nearly invisible trays that can be removed for eating, taking photos and special occasions. This works great for teens and adults, even people who had braces when they were younger.

Porcelain veneers are a perennial Hollywood-favorite that can dramatically transform a smile into something incredible. Veneers are thin, custom-made porcelain shells placed directly on the surface of each tooth to make them look virtually “perfect.” Veneers cover chips, cracks and other imperfections, can be made in nearly any shade of white, and even give teeth a straighter appearance.

What about people with a special event coming up who want a quick but significant smile boost? This is where professional in-office teeth whitening comes in. In about one hour, we can whiten teeth up to 8 shades brighter thanks to blue LED light-activated gel not available over-the-counter. My team loves showing people a before-and-after when they complete their whitening visit!

Tooth replacement is also very important and works wonders for a person’s smile as well as their health. Missing teeth cause damage and harmful movement to remaining teeth. Today we offer many tooth replacement options including dental implants, crowns, bridges and dentures which not only improve one’s smile, but also their day-to-day lives.

And because a beautiful smile involves more than just teeth, we also offer cosmetic injectable treatments such as Botox, Xeomin and Juvederm to help reduce wrinkles, fill creases and folds, and add volume. Great personal style—it starts with a smile!
