Chef Jared Hucks’ global journey from Atlanta, across the United States, Australia, South America, Asia and Europe, refined his culinary artistry. Returning home, he opened The Alden at the edge of Brookhaven, featuring a special immersive seven-course tasting menu that reflects his worldly experiences. The Alden, a Michelin Guide Recommended Restaurant, celebrates local, seasonal ingredients highlighting Chef Jared’s passion for the freshest food and flavor.
Jared, wife Wendy, and their daughter Aya have two incredible dogs, Bodhi, an Australian Shepherd and Lollie, a Texas Heeler. Aussies are known for their striking coats and keen agility, while Heelers bring toughness and loyalty. Both breeds excel in work and play, making them perfect companions for active families and restaurant life. “They are both energetic and intelligent cattle dogs so they naturally herd and try to keep the pack together at all times,” says Chef Jared, “they also love to cuddle and give kisses.”
Patrons of the Michelin Bib Gourmand restaurant, Estrellita can thank Kingston BarrLeMagne for the calm presence embodied by Chef Walter Cortado.
Estrellita is a cozy, boutique restaurant nestled in Grant Park, serving timeless Filipino dishes crafted with love. The recipes are “mastered by Mom, handed down through generations and shared with heartfelt pride.” Since 2023, Estrellita has been honored with a Michelin Bib Gourmand. Venture into town!
Kingston BarrLeMagne is the chef's regal Himalayan cat. With striking blue eyes and a plush, dense coat, Kingston made the ten-hour drive from Virginia to Atlanta without complaint. Known for their affectionate nature, Himalayan cats like Kingston are ideal companions—even in the kitchen.
When they’re not cooking, having the zoomies, or celebrating with a tuna cupcake, Walter and Kingston dabble in day trading. “He loves jumping on the desk and laying his paws on the other keyboard. A few weeks ago, he accidentally sold a bunch of stock; I had to scramble to buy it back!" says Walter.
