Grooming is something dogs cannot do by themselves. They rely on your help for good hygiene to stay healthy and happy. Along with coat and skin care, dental, nail and ear care are just as essential to prevent unwelcome infections and illnesses. Certain breeds with long or dense coats require professional handling every four to six weeks.
At Perk-N-Pooch, you can wash your dog or have a qualified staff member do it for you. The “Do-It-Yourself” package includes everything you need–shampoos, brushes, dryers and towels–all for $17. Each station is a secured area, so clients have their own private bathing space. Owners Renee and Joe Guerrisi started their family business five years ago after returning home to Atlanta from Singapore, mainly because they could not find a comfortable self-serve washing place that provided separation from other customers and unfamiliar dogs. That, and the fact that both are huge coffee enthusiasts. Combining their love of dogs and coffee was a no-brainer.
The Express Wash service is designed for drop-offs if scrubbing is not your cup of tea—or coffee, cocoa, smoothie, ice cream, all of which are available with free Wi-Fi at the cafe while you wait for your dog. You can even treat Fido to a specially formulated and safe pup sundae made with vanilla, peanut butter and a dog biscuit on top. Yes, really.

Creatwood Tavern: Smyrna’s Family Sports Bar & Restaurant
The folks behind Creatwood Tavern understood that Smyrna residents were dog-tired of searching for a fun restaurant where the whole family could socialize and be entertained. And by that, Creatwood’s co-owner Steve Shamatta really means everyone in the family.
“People’s pets are like their children. They want to be able to take them to a restaurant if they can.”
So what kind of inclusive eatery did they come up with? A family-oriented sports hangout proudly gone to the dogs, of course! Yep, dogs are welcome here. They would not have it any other way—Steve and most of his staff are dog lovers themselves.
Local health codes prevent restaurants from allowing non-service dogs inside, but the enclosed downstairs patio is available to human guests to enjoy their meals alongside their leashed four-legged counterparts, who are supplied with water bowls and treats.
