Advancing both body and mind, all in 50 minutes, all in one spot, is totally possible.
As owner/operator of the only boutique fitness studio on Gallatin Square, Julie Riemenschneider says everyone at Dive Barre & Pilates believes in embracing imperfections that make each person unique.
“We offer an inviting space to empower each person’s body through reformer and mat pilates, barre and yoga,” explains ‘head barretender’ Julie.
“Everyone can come as they are, ready to grow, connect and have fun. Our classes are designed to engage and strengthen the entire body while promoting mindfulness. Our goal is to guide members toward feeling their best, both inside and out.”
Julie explains reformer pilates is a low-impact, full-body workout performed on a specialized machine called a reformer, which uses a sliding carriage, springs, ropes and pulleys to provide resistance and support. She says this approach strengthens the body’s core, improves flexibility and enhances posture by offering a wide range of motion.
Through private or group classes, Julie says the Dive Barre instructors are happy to “do life together” with members. They state their classes help build emotional resilience and manage stress, too.
Julie says they have special bachelorette packages, group packages and class rates, including unlimited memberships, drop-in classes and reformer or nonreformer options. Anyone can sign up for a free Saturday class on the Dive Barre website, which is a nonintimidating session comprised of all people new to the class options.
“My own journey into pilates started a few years back, and the connection was so profound I dreamt of turning it into a career,” Julie recalls, when she previously was the office manager for local attorneys.
After being ill for 10 years, with 37 unexplained health symptoms, she says doctors finally discovered the cause. After the proper health care, she remembers feeling better within the first few days and wanting to do something different with her newfound energy. “Pilates seemed fancy, and I wanted to do something fancy,” she chuckles.
After her first 30-minute pilates class, she was in love. “And I wasn’t someone who had really worked out before that. I don’t know exactly how that class transcended me, but I cried in my car afterward.”
So she became a certified pilates Instructor, and eventually took the reins of Dive Barre in 2022.
Her mother started taking classes at age 73 and now devours three classes a week. The newest Dive Barre offering is Buti Movement, which blends power yoga, tribal dance, plyometrics and deep abdominal toning. The word Buti comes from Marathi, meaning “the cure to something hidden within.” It’s a reminder that what most people seek — peace, confidence, connection, groundedness — was never outside of them in the first place.
“I'm passionate about guiding members through their fitness journeys, whether its barre, pilates or yoga that ignites their spark,” Julie assures.
