Pandemic Positivity

Even amidst the chaos of a global pandemic you can create habits for a more healthy and productive lifestyle

So many of us have had to pivot our goals and way of life due to COVID. We've slowed down a little and started enjoying more family-based plans both in the house and out. Some of us will continue these activities into 2021 because they feel good and help us to continue to move forward as we social distance and embrace new habits.

TAKE A HIKE

Constant isolation indoors makes anyone appreciative of the outdoors. Revel in the beauty of nature by incorporating daily walks (or runs!) into your routine. Head out to the Cibolo Nature Center, and explore the land, water, and wildlife. Or, head out to Boerne Lake and enjoy some relaxing fishing.

MEET NEW PEOPLE

Yeah, I know what you’re thinking: Did you forget we’re in a pandemic?! What you may not realize is, since the majority of socialization now takes place online, the opportunity to reach more people increases due to extra free time and the mass accessibility the internet provides. So, grab your wine, and enjoy that virtual happy hour!

CREATE BUDGETS

It’s always a good idea to stay on top of your finances. There is no better time than now to create a budget. Due to changes in spending patterns, saving becomes crucial. That way, when all of this is over, you are left with an excellent start to your financial foundation.

 INVEST IN YOUR PHYSICAL HEALTH

The pandemic offers a perfect excuse to develop lazy patterns. Yet, some people are doing just the opposite. Peloton— the well-known indoor spin bike— hit record sales amidst the pandemic. By using this extra time to incorporate physical activity into your routine, your overall health can improve.

BOOST YOUR MENTAL WELL-BEING

The fear, stress, and worry associated with COVID’s uncertainty takes a toll on your mental health. In order to promote your wellbeing, practice any of the suggested items on this list. When you feel accomplished and healthy physically, you begin to heal emotionally.

GET CRAFTY

Still haven’t gotten around to that kitchen renovation you told yourself years ago you would finish? Well, now is your time. DIY a whole bunch of to-do’s so that when life returns to its fast-paced speed, you’re already ahead!

PERFECT YOUR COOKING SKILLS

Extra time at home means listening to the kids say “I’m hungry,” a lot more. Sure, cooking can be time-consuming and unappealing, for the busiest of people. My hack? Instant pot meals. They’re quick and can be totally and effortlessly healthy. Experiment and find the best recipes for whenever you need a substantial and easy meal for the family.

IMPROVE YOUR SLEEP ROUTINE

Your strict 9 to 5 work schedule, most likely, has experienced some changes. If you’re a full-time, work-at-home employee, you don’t have to commute to work anymore. No commute means extra time in bed. Extra time in bed means an enhanced sleep schedule. Voila!

FOCUS ON RELATIONSHIPS

Now, more than ever, families are together a majority of their days. Set aside time to bond with those closest to you, this way, post-pandemic new habits—that show appreciation of our loved ones— can continue to thrive.

FORGIVE YOURSELF AND SLOW DOWN

By changing just one of your habits, and sticking to it, you can transform your energy and wellbeing. Forgive yourself, understand that we’re in extraordinary times, and that people will and do understand prioritization. Also, we need to accept that sometimes we just need a break.
