Yes, you read that right. Long Branch is the best dog-friendly town in New Jersey! Having visited this gorgeous beach town for over 20 years, and spending the last 9 years with my dog, Brie, tagging along, we’ve got plenty of reasons to back up this claim. The culture of treating dogs like family members and taking them on adventures has grown in popularity, and Long Branch is perfect for both locals and tourists who want to spend the day with their dogs. The town's growth has brought in dog-friendly hotels, restaurants, activities, shopping, and more!
Here’s what makes Long Branch so special for dogs:
Beaches/Walking Path
The main attraction of any beach town is, of course, the beach! Leashed dogs can play on the sand and wade in the ocean from October 1 through April 30. Local summer and the offseason are even better for pups with fewer crowds and cooler weather. Although the boardwalk is not dog-friendly year-round, Long Branch stands out with a parallel sidewalk/blacktop path along the boardwalk, where you can enjoy ocean views with your dog. Nearby, there’s also the dog-friendly, off-leash Asbury Park Dog Beach and the Wolf Hill Recreation Area dog park in Oceanport.
