Put Your Best Skin Forward This Year

With Microneedling Treatments

With its impressive results combatting signs of aging, microneedling has become a sought-after trend in skincare. “As we age, collagen production decreases and skin damage becomes more visible,” says Dr. Steven Bengelsdorf, Medical Director of Franklin Skin and Laser. Microneedling is a non-surgical treatment for those looking to address signs of aging by rejuvenating the skin and improving textural imperfections.”

This non-surgical treatment aids in improving many skin concerns that have to do with skin’s texture including wrinkles, fine lines, enlarged pores, and acne scarring, as well as aesthetic aspects like laxity, sun damage, stretch marks, and hyper-pigmentation.

“Microneedling creates controlled micro-injuries that promote natural collagen production and cellular turnover through the body’s natural wound healing process,” explains Dr. Bengelsdorf. “During the treatment, an FDA-approved device is glided over the skin in specific patterns in the area of concern. This device uses sterile, incredibly small needles that penetrate the skin to jumpstart collagen production and signal the body to repair the treated area. There is some
social downtime associated with this treatment, as patients leave with a blood mask on and will experience expected erythema and edema for days following the treatment.”

A microneedling session can range from 30-90 minutes, long depending on the area being treated. “We recommend microneedling in a series of three or six [treatments] about four to six weeks apart,” says Dr. Bengelsdorf. “Collagen stimulating treatments generally take up to three to six months to see optimal results, but patients may see improvement after just one treatment.”

Franklin Skin and Laser is a physician-owned and run medical practice now celebrating it's 15th year. Dr. Bengelsdorf and the esteemed staff of licensed professionals offer an individualized and customizable experience for each of their medical grade treatments.

Before a patient undergoes a treatment, they’ll have a personalized consultation to discuss their medical history, skin concerns, and desired outcomes, ensuring they are an ideal candidate for the treatment. During this time, they’ll receive pre-treatment instructions including when to stop taking certain oral medications and using specific types of topical treatments in the period leading up to the appointment. The team believes in using multiple modalities such as professional skin care products, microdermabrasion, chemical peels, injectables, laser and light therapies, and minimally invasive surgical techniques to achieve superior results. FranklinLaser.com.
