On Hendersonville’s East Main Street lies one of the city’s newest and most unique businesses, RallyPoint Motor Condos, LLC. Founded and owned by J.R. and Carol Ernst, RallyPoint draws the attention of thousands of motorists every day who are intrigued by its beautiful, expansive structure.
Within the walls of the four building complex, there are 31 large condos that owners are able to store all types of valuable vehicles, including cars, motorcycles, boats and recreational vehicles. In addition to the condos, RallyPoint also features a spacious and well-appointed owner’s clubhouse known as the HUB. All of the property is protected by a gating system that has a sophisticated access control system that allows condo owners to enjoy 24 x 7 access, as well as to provide guest passes to family, friends and vendors.
“The idea for RallyPoint started with a need to store our RV, and to free up some garage space,” said J.R. “When we started to explore the concept, we soon realized that we would be developing the first motor condo complex in Tennessee, but not the first motor condo complex in the country. This discovery led Carol and I to extensive travels visiting other motor condos, both successful and not successful. During these visits, we determined what we liked, and what we felt we could improve on. We took that information, combined it with a lot of sketching, some land planning, and the assistance of some professionals to develop what RallyPoint’s look and feel is today.”
Today, the complex offers seven different sizes of motor condos. Individual units range from 25’ x 40’ to 50’ x 55’. However, the majority of them are either 25’ x 50’ or 25’ x 55’. All ceilings range from 22’ – 24’ ft high in order to allow mezzanines and car lifts. Exterior drive aisles range in width from 50’ to 55’ to permit safe maneuvering of large trailers and Class A recreational vehicles.
The original condo prices started at $317,000 for the small 25’ x 40’ unit and went all the way up to $879,000 for the largest 50’ x 55’ unit. Currently, there are 3 condos available starting at $409,500.
RallyPoint’s flexible design allows owners to customize their individual condos to their hearts’ desires. In each of the 28 occupied units, the condo owners have decorated their units to reflect their personalities and desires.
In order to assist owners with customizing their units, RallyPoint selected McPherson Shaw, Inc. as the preferred contractor to make the build out process easier. However, owners are not limited to a particular contractor, with one exception. All of the steel mezzanines in the units are manufactured and installed by a local Hendersonville company, Steel Works Metal Fabrication & Design.
“Some people refer to the RallyPoint condos as ‘man caves’,” said Carol. “Jokingly, I’m offended by this term as women also like cars and power toys. We have a very involved community, and it’s not just guys.”
Early in the planning stages, Carol and J.R. went through an extensive process to select the perfect name for the complex.
“At first, we had our own ideas about what our brand name should be. Since our day jobs are in the hotel business with Hampton Inn and Hampton Inn & Suites, we understand the value of brand recognition,” said Carol. “As a result, we met with Proof Branding in East Nashville during 2020 to create a Brand that spoke to not only the high-end storage aspect but also focused on the community and social nature of motor condos. Ultimately, they helped create our name, logos and the RallyPoint registered trademark.”
In the future, Carol and J.R. want to continue to expand their endeavor beyond Hendersonville. They currently have a land planner reviewing sites in Williamson County for suitability. Any potential new sites are likely to be larger than the Hendersonville complex, offering 60 to 80 motor condos. They also have other locations in mind, but their ultimate goal is to sell franchises to grow the RallyPoint brand.
Collectors of classic vehicles often have to make sacrifices when adding to their inventory due to a shortage of storage space. This situation often results in owners having to sell some of their most treasured items in order to bring in something new.
Fortunately, there is a solution to this problem – RallyPoint Motor Condos, LLC. Since 2025, Hendersonville-based RallyPoint has been offering collectors the perfect solution for storing all kinds of power toys, including muscle cars, motorcycles, boats and recreation vehicles.
