The Dinosaur Company is Ferociously Fun

The Dinosaur Company, a part of Billings Productions, has been sparking awe with their animatronic dinosaurs since 2003. A family owned, minority, and woman run business, they are passionate about educating the public on both prehistoric creatures and conservation of the ones roaming the earth today.

Their mission is to inspire, and with that goal in mind, in 2013, the subsidiaries "The Dinosaur Company" and "The Giant Bug Company" were established to celebrate the variety of products they create. In 2019, they unveiled another set of creatures: “The Primal Predators.” This collection features many large prehistoric creatures from the Ice Age.

A small company with big ideas for the future, The Dinosaur Company is a world leader in the design, development, and production of animatronic exhibits for zoos, museums, and theme parks. “There’s value in how much kids engage with seeing a dinosaur in front of them in real life,” says Lauren Billings, VP of Operations.

At their Allen location, they build the animatronic dinosaurs, prehistoric predators, and giant bugs, as well as house the corporate headquarters, and host the community for tours any day of the week. Tours offer a chance to see the production in action.

“You can’t do that anywhere else! We’re the only place in America that builds animatronic dinosaurs,” Billings exclaims with a pride and joy that’s contagious. “The company is unique in that it combines fabrication with education so there’s something for everybody to enjoy. We’re a little bit of everything!”

In 2019, they committed to becoming a more community-inclusive company and started giving tours of their facility to the public. In February 2021, they opened their brand-new, state-of-the-art facility in the heart of Allen. They offer a wide range of tours and workshops for any age where they explain the history of the company, what type of people work there, and how a dinosaur is built.

From hands-on Dino Expeditions to BYOB STEAM Animatronic Tours, there’s something for everyone. Prices range from $8 – $15 per ticket, depending on the activity. Ask about discounts for educators, students, military, senior citizens, first responders, scout troops, and nonprofits.

Dinosaurs Live!

For the 16th year, The Dinosaur Company and The Heard Natural Science Museum & Wildlife Sanctuary will be joining together to feature the dinosaur exhibit on September 2nd, giving families a DINO-mite walk back in time. Encounter the 46-foot T-Rex and ten new life-size animatronic dinosaurs along the nature trails featuring a variety of dinosaurs from the famous Tyrannosaurus Rex to the Muttaburrasaurus.

See the dinosaurs move and hear them roar! Each dinosaur is fitted with its own electronic brain and powered by a pneumatic system to produce smooth and realistic movements. Situated in a natural setting, you can let your imagination run wild as you explore the blast from the past.

Play areas and stationary photo-op will be available as well. This year, the exhibit also features an outdoor fossil dig.

Bringing the prehistoric past to life through their events, tours, and gift shop, The Dinosaur Company strives to nurture curiosity for all creatures. This summer, a visit to The Dinosaur Company should be at the very tricera-TOP of your list, you’ll have a RAWR-some good time!
