Dallas is on the map for many different reasons. Maybe it’s the Cotton Bowl, the world-renowned shopping or the iconic soap opera, but one thing is for sure, we’ve seen a lot of Dallas in the media. We were able to get an inside peek of a property seen on TV - a recently sold home featured on Real Housewives of Dallas.
Kelli Macatee, a Park Cities native and a principal founder of The Macatee + Wells Team at Compass, is a dear friend of Kameron Wescott - the housewife and mother who is on Bravo’s popular show. When the family decided it was time to move, they knew who to call.
“Kelli Macatee had our house under contract 24 hours after we listed it with her,” says Kameron. “Our house selling experience was not stressful at all thanks to Kelli. Her network and roots of growing up in Park Cities helped us make a lot of important decisions. Kelli offered advice on anything that needed improvement, helped us schedule repairs and got everything fixed. She always made sure our house was sparkling and relevant. Kelli is always so calm and serene which is important during this time. I’m going to recommend Kelli again and again and forever and ever.”
Now what you’ve been waiting for: details on the house. The property was described in it’s Compass listing as a “rare blend of estate living and lock and leave.” Built in 2008, it is very ahead of its time and has rare features for similar properties in Park Cities. The floor plan is incredibly flexible and includes 5 bedrooms and 7 bathrooms - all within 7,409 square feet of highly customized living space. This is a comparatively smaller lot, so the footprint had to be efficient and maximize the usage of three floors.
The home was designed by architect George Lewis and evokes a mediterranean feel, mixed with traditional comfort. It’s the perfect example of a transitional home, and anyone will be able to decorate it to feel like home.
The kitchen is all-white, with an island and a big range stove, very on trend with modern kitchens. Off of this space, there is a butler’s pantry. Storage is one thing that the home is definitely not lacking - throughout each floor and room.
The spacious living room features large retractable window walls, creating a seamless indoor/outdoor living experience. The option to open the wall makes for the best of both worlds in Texas when the weather is either roasting or freezing - rarely perfectly comfortable. It also makes the area ideal for entertaining.
The backyard features an outdoor kitchen on a large patio, with a grill and lots of prep space. The pool is a family’s dream, features a jacuzzi and is surrounded by natural stone. There are tons of big trees that provide privacy for the family to spend hours of fun in the sun (or rather, the shade).
Moving downstairs to the basement, which is a rarity in Texas because of the hard clay grounds, we find some of the key highlights to the property. The large main area functions as a playroom for the kids. There is a large media room for movie and game watching, complete with comfy reclining chairs. A wine cellar and wet bar make the small nook with a table perfect for private dining or wine tastings. The downstairs bedroom has been turned into an exercise room.
Up on the second floor (or third, depending on how you count the basement) we find the master suite among other rooms.
“The master suite is another really special piece of the property,” says Kelli. She pointed out the character within the his and hers bathrooms and dressing areas, as both have decor dedicated to their respective occupants. There is a covered terrace off the master bedroom with a fireplace that seems like a perfect place to enjoy your morning coffee.
All in all - it truly feels like a one of a kind property and Kelli has sold it so that another family has the chance to call it home and make years of memories there.
