Feeling overrun with fatigue? Fighting the middle-age weight challenge? Having trouble with mood swings and sleep? Robyn Wright, NMD, founder of Healthy Evolutions, can help through naturopathic medicine, which is a holistic approach to health using natural methods to support a body's self-healing abilities.
With 20-plus years of experience in addressing hormonal, metabolic, thyroid, adrenal and lifestyle issues, Dr. Wright brings a wealth of knowledge to assisting patients with achieving optimal health. She says that while MDs and DOs often emphasize pharmaceuticals and surgical care, NMDs combine modern diagnostics with therapeutic nutrition, herbal medicine, lifestyle medicine, metabolic support, stress optimization, mind-body techniques and natural therapies that strengthen a body’s physiology.
From previously working in weight-loss centers, Dr. Wright says she watched people chase quick fixes only to end up discouraged, regaining weight or struggling with deeper metabolic and hormonal issues. "It became clear: you cannot heal what you do not understand. And no surgery or supplement can replace foundational health. When I found naturopathic medicine, everything clicked. Addressing root causes — hormones, metabolism, inflammation, stress physiology, thyroid and gut health — creates transformation that lasts."
Dr. Wright says she follows a seven-pronged therapeutic order that first removes obstacles to one's health, such as chronic stress, poor diet, gut dysfunction, sleep disruption and lifestyle patterns that create the terrain in which disease develops.
"Healing is impossible when the foundation isn’t sound," she reminds.
Secondly, she works to stimulate self-healing mechanisms through botanical medicine, hydrotherapy, clinical nutrition, homeopathy and acupuncture to amplify the body’s own repair systems.
Next comes strengthening weakened systems. She incorporates lifestyle medicine, targeted supplementation, orthomolecular therapy and botanical formulas to rebuild tissues, organs and metabolic pathways.
The fourth step is about correcting structural integrity through spinal manipulation, craniosacral therapy and therapeutic bodywork to support alignment and mobility.
Using natural substances to restore function is Dr. Wright's fifth step. "When illness requires direct intervention, natural therapies offer effective treatment without adding toxic burden," she adds.
The sixth step is to incorporate pharmaceuticals when necessary or clinically appropriate.
Referring patients for surgery or high-force interventions can be the last of the seven steps. "When life or function is at risk, naturopathic doctors collaborate with MDs, DOs, NPs and PAs, while supporting the patient through treatment side effects," she explains.
When is a good time to get changes in health checked out?
Hormonal shifts can disrupt sleep and zap energy. Dr. Wright says, "With our innovative, holistic and personalized naturopathic solutions, we help women navigate peri-menopause and menopause with resilience and grace."
She says she also helps women to restore balance in their metabolism, adrenal and thyroid functions, so they can recharge their internal battery, stress less, sleep better and focus on the things that matter most to them in life.
"My medical assistance is all about identifying core causes and using the wisdom of natural healing lessons so my patients can get back to having increased energy and freedom to enjoy their lives fully," asserts Dr. Wright.
Her Greenwood office is located at the Restorative Herbalism Center, 200 Byrd Way, Ste. 140.
