Imagine a place where you can escape the chaos of today's fast-paced world—a safe, welcoming space to recharge when life feels overwhelming. Calma Relaxation Therapy offers exactly that. Located within Tennessee Alternative Medicine, Calma Relaxation Therapy is a mind-body practice for women, that blends guided meditation, integrative massage, and energy work (Reiki) to cultivate a deeper sense of peace and balance. Founded by Heather Sabellico, a Licensed Massage Therapist and Certified Reiki Practitioner, Calma Relaxation Therapy reflects her unique approach to helping women reconnect with their inner calm.
What is Calma Relaxation Therapy?
It’s an extremely restful blend of massage and guided meditation layered with holistic relaxation techniques. While Swedish massage relieves knots and tension in the physical body, energy work helps ease stress and anxiety in the emotional and spiritual body, promoting balance and well-being.
What Inspired you to create Calma Relaxation Therapy?
I’ve always been fascinated by the ancient roots and modern discoveries of holistic healing. I study acupressure, yoga, meditation, and the therapeutic attributes of sound because I believe in the power of these gentle therapies to calm the body, mind, and spirit. I find combining energy work with massage and other modalities invites profound, transformative calm. My clients love the results, and that’s how Calma Relaxation Therapy was born.
Why create a practice for women?
I know what it’s like to be a working woman—mom, wife, caretaker, juggling a career —too busy to take time for yourself. My mother used to say, “You can’t pour from an empty pot,” and I believe that. Calma is for the amazing women who find it difficult to give themselves the care they so willingly give to others. It’s a practice of understanding and compassion, encouraging women to step away from the noise of daily life and find a moment of tranquility to recharge and refill their pot.
How does a Calma Relaxation Therapy session differ from a typical massage?
I offer three main experiences tailored to each client’s needs:
Rest and Restore: A deeply nourishing session combining guided meditation and Reiki to encourage stillness and balance.
Integrative Massage: Swedish massage infused with energy work to relieve both physical and emotional tension.
Reset: A shorter Reiki and acupressure session for those needing to refocus during a hectic day.
The beauty is the ability to customize each session to your unique needs and preferences. You might add aromatherapy or breath work to your integrative massage or a soothing scalp massage during your rest and restore session. While the basics remain the same, each session is as unique as you are. Ultimately, this is your relaxation journey, and I’m here as a guide.
Why is relaxation so important?
When you’re not looking, stress and anxiety can take a serious toll on your health. I’m not telling you anything you don’t already know—you’ve read it and you’ve listened to the podcasts. But what are you doing about it?
I provide the time and space for you to act on what you know to be true: you need moments to quiet the mind, look within, and reset your inner compass. The world isn’t slowing down. We’re only running faster trying to keep up, so it makes sense to incorporate relaxation as a necessary component of mental and physical wellness.
What is Reiki?
There are lots of misconceptions about Reiki, so it’s important to clarify: Reiki is not a religion. It’s a therapeutic practice developed in Japan in the 1920s and is used in major medical institutions like the Mayo Clinic and Johns Hopkins Hospital to support relaxation, recovery, and pain management.
Simply put, Reiki is based on the idea that a universal life energy flows through all living things. When this energy is blocked or disrupted, it can lead to imbalance. Trained practitioners channel positive energy by placing their hands on or above the body to address these imbalances. It’s a powerful complement to my practice.
Why now?
Calma Relaxation Therapy helps people. They feel better, and lighter in heart and mind. I want to share that. This work is more than a career for me; it’s a calling.
While I can’t fix big world problems, I can do small things to create a flow of kindness. I hope to inspire others to embrace being kind to themselves and others. Kindness multiplies and grows and I feel the world could always use a little extra. Why not now?
