The traditional 'Spring Cleaning' paves the way for updating interiors in a major or a minor way and provides a fresh, clean canvas for new decor and home updates. Your interior scheme becomes more refined as you develop an eye for styles and quality, and with age and exposure comes certainty in what you love and the feel that you want to create in your home. Look at your home this season with fresh eyes. A few updates can ensure your home reflects your personality and style. Believe it or not, just a few simple changes can breathe new life into your interiors!

Read on for our top tips to freshen up your home's look this spring without starting from scratch!

1. Edit & Curate: Often it's not what we add to the room but what we eliminate that changes the feel. Begin your spring refresh by decluttering and releasing any furnishings that do not add to the entire space. Decluttering your home can also reduce stress, since clutter overwhelms the senses. Try moving your favorite pieces from one room to another or from one function to another. No more keeping family hand-me-downs or tired furnishings that do not make your interior heart sing!

2. Paint: Nothing changes the look or feel of your space like a fresh coat of paint. Don’t be afraid of a bold color. You can even paint your walls, trim and ceiling all one color for monochromatic drama. Select a cohesive color palette for your home, so colors transition smoothly and the eye flows easily from one room to the next. White trim is always a classic, but black trim can completely transform a space. One of my favorite ways to freshen up any home is to paint your front door a new color on both the outside AND the inside!

3. Lighting: The main light fixtures in any house are the best indication and tell-tale sign of when a house was built or remodeled. Update chandeliers and sconces, starting with the main floor foyer, dining room, living room, great room, and kitchen island. The lighting transformation sets the tone for a new interior style. Updating lampshades is also a great way to update your whole look. The secret sauce of lighting is the correct type and wattage of light bulbs that can change the entire feel and look of a room. We love dimmer switches to give you total control of the mood of your home.

4. Accessorize: The easiest way to add pop to any decor style is with stunning lamps, pillows, rugs, and a new art focal point. Go for larger scale accessories that have impact, and opt for fewer, more interesting accent pieces. Luxurious coffee table books are conversation starters that add interest and color to your room. Live plants and fresh flowers elevate your style and ground your living experience while improving air quality. Add joy to your space by choosing art that genuinely speaks to you and makes you happy. Trade your traditional rugs for modern patterns with larger scale designs and monochromatic colors. The perfect rug totally changes the feel of a room and brings comfort and warmth to your space. In addition to their decorative benefits, rugs help protect your floors and offer extra insulation, helping you save on energy costs. If you love your current rugs, have them cleaned and repaired to increase their lifespan.
