REI Summer Fun Essentials

Our summer fun round-up wouldn’t be complete without ideas for outdoor activities from REI. Here are their suggestions for the best equipment to experience them!

1 Running: REI is a one-stop spot for runners, carrying a wide variety of high-end running brands, including ON, Hoka, Janji, Rabbit, Altra, and REI Swiftland. The REI Swiftland MT trail shoe just launched and would be great for running the trails of Warner Parks or the greenways in Nashville.

2) Trail Running: The Janji Rainrunner Pack Jacket is an ideal product for the everyday trail runner. It's very lightweight, packs into itself, and has excellent ventilation. Janji was founded with the mission of expanding access to clean water worldwide. Here’s a bit about Janji:

"We are a small, independent company manufacturing limited-run collections. We are far from perfect, but we hold ourselves accountable to continually improve how we treat people, the planet, and products to build a better company and industry."

2 Biking: The Nashville area and all of Williamson County have widely available access to greenways. REI has a full-service bike shop in the Brentwood store, and they service any bike, not just bikes purchased from REI, and typically have an under 36-hour turnaround time. REI Co-op members receive a great discount on shop services. As the city of Brentwood continues to work towards creating the Smith Park Mountain bike trails, REI has a great selection of bikes and mountain bike clothing to offer, selling REI Co-op cycles, Cannondale, Rapha, Pearl Izumi, and more!

3 Paddleboarding: Paddleboarding is an excellent activity for days spent on Piercy Priest Lake, Couchville Lake, or for water fun at Long Hunter State Park. It’s a great family-friendly activity and a great core workout. Don't forget your pups! REI sells both inflatable and hardshell paddle boards.

4 Camping: Camping offers a chance to disconnect from our phones and reconnect with our families. Long Hunter State Park is a short 30-minute drive from Brentwood and offers excellent hiking trails, backpacking, and camping areas. Long Hunter is right on the lake, with a few access points for paddleboarding and kayaking! The REI Wonderland 4 Tent is a great family camping tent for drive-up camp spots.
