Resale Heaven

Making a Positive Impact for Everyone

Since its opening in 2015, Resale Heaven has become a valuable resource for families and organizations throughout Baldwin County. I recently had the wonderful opportunity to catch up with Brooke Taylor, one of the board members, to learn more about the fantastic work they’re doing in the community.

Resale Heaven was founded with a mission to help those in need, and over the past ten years, they have made a significant difference. Thanks to the generosity of local shoppers and donors, the store has donated over $800,000 to various charities and organizations from its sales since it opened. With sales in 2025, the organization will top over $1 MILLION in donations, showcasing its commitment to supporting local initiatives that truly make a difference in people’s lives.

Brooke shared heartwarming stories about how funds generated from the thrift store have helped families facing hardships. For instance, they have provided essential resources to local shelters, supported foster families with children in need, assisted educational programs for children, and helped families in crisis. Resale Heaven partners with a variety of organizations, including food banks and educational nonprofits, to ensure that donations reach those who need them most, addressing everything from food security to access to essential supplies.

The thrift store offers a fantastic selection of gently used items that cater to a diverse range of needs. Shoppers can find everything from small furniture pieces and home décor to clothing, jewelry, shoes, and kitchenware. Each visit is an opportunity for customers to discover unique treasures while contributing to a great cause. By giving pre-loved items a second chance, Resale Heaven promotes sustainability and reduces waste, highlighting the importance of mindful consumption in today’s world.

Brooke emphasized the importance of community involvement in the store’s success. Volunteers play a crucial role in daily operations, helping sort donations, manage inventory, and assist customers. This volunteer-driven approach not only keeps operational costs low but also fosters a warm and welcoming environment for everyone involved. The volunteers are local residents who are passionate about giving back to their community, making it a true labor of love.

As we discussed the history of Resale Heaven, Brooke highlighted the significant contributions of two key founders, Glenn Butler and Barbara Bauer. Their dedication and passion for helping others were instrumental in establishing the organization. While they were not the only founders, their influence continues to inspire the board and volunteers today, reminding everyone of the importance of community service and compassion.

Resale Heaven is open five days a week, from 10 AM to 2 PM, Monday through Friday, making it easy for families to stop by, shop, and donate their gently used items, furniture, and jewelry. This local thrift store is not just a place to find affordable goods; it’s a hub for community connection and support. Each purchase made at Resale Heaven helps fund local programs and initiatives that directly benefit the community, making every shopping trip a meaningful experience.

In a time when many face challenges, Resale Heaven serves as a reminder that we can come together to make a positive impact. By shopping and donating to this local thrift store, you not only discover great deals but also contribute to a larger mission of compassion and support. So, the next time you’re on the hunt for gently used items, consider visiting Resale Heaven, where every purchase helps uplift our community and honors the legacy of its founders. Together, we can continue to make Baldwin County a better place for everyone.
