Lisa Buragina, owner and head stylist of Revival Hair Studio, has always liked being around people. After finishing beauty school, Lisa worked in various beauty services, including skincare, makeup, and nails; but she found true delight in hair styling. Her passion for her profession is accented by Lisa’s gift of engaging in friendly conversation, creating relationships, and getting to know her clients on a deeper level than just “cut and color.”
“There aren’t many businesses that engage a hands-on interaction with your clients,” says Lisa. “I’ve always liked talking to people and making them feel good about themselves. It’s a very personal business.”
Born and raised in Bergen County, she worked in several different shops over the years and is proud to have established her own salon in Dumont over eight years ago.
Lisa specializes in hair cutting and coloring; she especially loves to craft a beautiful, finished style for her clients that will help them to feel amazing when they step out of her shop. “There’s nothing like taking a client from mousy brown to a beautiful blonde color,” says Lisa. “However, it’s very important to maintain the integrity of the hair. We take the time to ensure that the hair is healthy and vibrant. We take pride in that!”
Each team member at Revival Hair Studio has a unique styling specialty. Lisa defines the studio as family-oriented, offering quality hair care at an affordable price. Her diverse staff is responsible for creating a caring atmosphere and a warm, welcoming ambiance for every person who walks through the door. Many of the stylists are bilingual, so Lisa is proud to have the ability to serve and communicate with clients who may not speak English as a primary language. “We are a work family, and I run a team-based salon. We aren’t competitive with each other--we help each other. We all work together for the good of our clients,” says Lisa.
The shop also carries seasonal items, handbags, scarves, and jewelry, so many clients shop during their styling session or stop in to pick up gifts.
One of the more popular staff members is Lisa’s Yorkshire terrier, Gnocchi, who delights clients with his friendly personality. “We’re animal friendly, and we celebrate a very open and accepting environment,” says Lisa. “As a woman-owned salon, I believe it’s important to set that tone and provide a positive experience for every client. People always comment on how comfortable they feel here.”
“It’s my goal to make people feel beautiful from within as well as on the outside,” says Lisa. “Beauty is so much more than looking in the mirror. It’s about the experience and the journey—not just the destination!”
