With more than 20 years in the home building industry, Mike Kruse decided to start his own business and in 2021 he launched Revive General Contracting here in Glastonbury.
After years of working as a Project Manager and a Vice President of Operations for large corporate home building firms, Mike says he wanted to get back to what he loved most in his career: Working directly with homeowners and clients and helping them bring their dream home or remodel to life.
“I climbed the corporate ladder and I got the title and salary I thought I wanted but I wasn’t happy not having a voice directly in projects. I really enjoy interacting with customers and I missed that. Also, you get to see what you’re creating instead of just looking at spreadsheets and numbers.”
He and his employees at Revive General Contracting pride themselves not only on the quality of their workmanship and products, but their commitment to openness and transparency with clients.
“Our customers are spending a lot of money with us, sometimes their life savings, and they are entrusting us with that and with planning out their project. We’re incredibly transparent with what we do. We want to spend people’s money wisely and we are as down to earth and honest as possible with all of our customers. Transparency in everything we do is really our thing; honestly, integrity and transparency.”
Revive General Contracting, which is a member of Home Builders & Remodelers Association of Central Connecticut, does a variety of residential work, from new homes to remodeling jobs, Mike says.
“We do such a wide variety of things, everything from new homes, additions, renovations, kitchens and bathrooms, and we’re good at it! Nothing is above us or beneath us.”
The company is located here in Glastonbury and does a lot of work in the surrounding area, “but with the right job and the right terms we will travel,” Mike says.
“For instance, I have a historic home I’m working on in Haddam right now. It’s not just a rebuild or new build, we’re adapting the house to keep it original character. It’s really exciting because the owners want to keep the historic character of the home, such as original wide pine floors, and I just love that!”
Mike and his family have lived in Glastonbury for nine years and have grown to love the town.
For that reason, he adds, Revive General Contracting also likes to give back to the town by supporting local youth sports organizations, such as the Glastonbury Hartwell Soccer Club and Hebron Avenue School.
“It’s a fantastic community and it’s been very supportive of our business, a lot of our success here has been from word of mouth from customers in the community.”
