Freddie is a very special kitten. He has an unusual neurological disorder called Cerebellar Hypoplasia, also known as Wobbly Kitten Syndrome. Despite this, he's the coolest, sweetest, toughest cat, and the care team at Five Parks Animal Hospital instantly adored him.
Freddie’s owner, Nicole, rescued him from a local cattle ranch. He was one of five kittens in the litter, and it was clear he faced many challenges and was just not quite like the others. He could not walk very well and therefore couldn't keep up with his siblings. Nicole understood the kittens were feral, primarily functioning as pest control for the barn and surrounding area. She also knew they were well fed and well cared for; however, poor little Freddie just could not keep up. With Nicole’s daughter’s tender heart, they simply had to ask if they could take him home. And so they did.
“We just fell in love,” says Nicole. “He was part of our family.” Nicole’s oldest daughter insisted on naming their pets after 70’s rock stars, and they felt Freddie, too, was destined for that rock and roll lifestyle. Yet, he needed help. Freddie was so tiny and exercised little control over his Wobbly Kitten symptoms because he was so weak. The family drove to Five Parks Animal Hospital to see Dr. Camp, who had previously cared for their young cat, Elton. They knew he’d be in the arms of a trusted care team, and sure enough, they fell in love with him, too.
It became everyone’s mission to make sure Freddie lived the best life he could. “He is funny, adventurous, and buddies with his brother,” says Nicole. “Elton lies on his back, taunting Freddie to jump on him, and as soon as Freddie pounces, Elton darts around and rolls Freddie over. Everyone is right at home.”
We see you, Freddie. Rock on!
