Giving Tree Yoga’s Wellness Festival Returns with Purpose

What happens when passion meets purpose on the mat? For Karina Carmichael, the answer is her annual 108 Charity Yoga & Wellness Festival—now returning to Smyrna September 20–21 for two days of healing, hope, and heartfelt community connection.

Saturday’s programming will transform the Smyrna Community Center into a vibrant hub of activity, with guest speakers, high-energy HIIT and yoga fusion classes, chakra workshops led by Giving Tree’s 300-hour trainees, flower mala-making, and even Indian dance. Kids can participate, too—children’s classes will be hosted at Giving Tree Yoga during the festival.

Sunday brings the heart of the event: a communal experience of 108 Sun Salutations. Karina has held the festival for years, but her dream is to one day gather 108 people moving in unison—a powerful symbol of unity and intention. The day concludes with a restorative yoga session and soothing sound bath.

All proceeds benefit Food4Lives ATL, a nonprofit serving the homeless in Atlanta, and a school Karina has supported in India for over 15 years. “Yoga is about more than poses,” she says. “It’s about showing up—for ourselves and for others.”

Local partners include Haven Yoga, Freedom Youth Yoga, Kaitlin’s Kids Yoga, Instant Imprints, Sports Chiropractor, and Frenchies Nail Salon. Volunteers, sponsors, and raffle donations are welcome and appreciated.
