Running On Gratitude

Celebrating two decades of Thanksgiving tradition, community fellowship, and giving back.

As the publisher of Boerne Lifestyle, Tara Bové shows us every month what it means to celebrate the spirit of the Hill Country. And for the past 20 years, she has extended that same warmth to the whole community on Thanksgiving morning. What started two decades ago as a simple neighborhood gathering has grown into one of Fair Oaks Ranch’s most cherished holiday traditions. This year marks a landmark milestone as Tara’s Turkey Trot celebrates its 20th running, and you’re invited!

Before the festive meals and football games begin, neighbors, families, and friends gather in front of Tara’s home. The event welcomes participants of all fitness levels with both a 3-mile and 6-mile route, allowing runners and casual walkers alike to share a crisp morning of outdoor fellowship and fresh air.

At its core, the yearly trot reflects Tara’s passion for bringing people together to support local families in need. Each year, the event directs its proceeds toward a worthy regional cause. For this special anniversary, participants will run and walk to benefit the Hill Country Pregnancy Care Center and support the vital services they offer mothers, fathers, and children.

Sponsors, dedicated volunteers, and enthusiastic runners make this tradition possible year after year, and official event T-shirts are available to commemorate the 20-year milestone. Whether you plan to set a personal record on the 6-mile course, enjoy a leisurely 3-mile stroll with your family, or volunteer at the finish line, Tara warmly invites everyone to step out and start Thanksgiving Day with purpose!
