At just 13 years old, Southlake’s Saanvi Gullapalli is making waves in the world of finance—an industry where expertise often takes decades to develop. What sets her apart? A deep-rooted passion for the stock market, an insatiable curiosity, and wisdom beyond her years.
Saanvi’s journey began at eight, not in a classroom, but at home, sitting beside her father, Ravi Gullapalli, a hedge fund manager. She watched as he analyzed market trends and read The Wall Street Journal, absorbing every detail.
Her first investment? Amazon—a brand she observed coming in to her home often. That brand curiosity sparked a deeper interest in the market, turning weekends with her dad into a mix of strategy and bonding—analyzing stocks, discussing trends, and learning how the economy shapes investments.
"During the week, my dad is busy managing his hedge fund, but on weekends, we exchange stock strategies. He tells me what he’s investing in, I share my picks, and we discuss our plans for the week ahead," she shares.
Saanvi took a major step by opening her first custodial account with E*TRADE, which she still manages today. Preferring long-term investments, she focuses on well-known brands. One of her biggest successes? Tesla. She bought shares in 2020 for $70 and sold them last November at $300—an impressive return for any investor, let alone one who hasn’t entered high school yet.
Her dedication extends beyond her portfolio. Saanvi shares weekly stock market updates on social media, engaging with a growing audience of young investors. Her Instagram (@saanvi_gullapalli) and X (formerly Twitter, @saanvi_stocks) accounts have become go-to sources for finance enthusiasts seeking fresh insights.
A recent highlight of her journey was an exclusive invitation to the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE). There, she met Scott Wapner and the Fast Money Halftime Report team, a show she watches religiously. "Watching it live was an amazing experience I will remember forever," she recalls.
Despite her growing success, Saanvi is still a well-rounded pre-teen. When she’s not analyzing stocks, she enjoys tennis, swimming, and baking—especially her favorite dessert, tres leches cake. She also cherishes time with her three-year-old brother, making Sundays family time.
As for her future? Saanvi has big dreams. She hopes to secure an internship at a major financial institution, attend Harvard to study finance, and eventually work alongside her father or launch her own hedge fund. She believes investing is a skill anyone can learn. “It’s never too early to start,” she says. “Warren Buffett says to invest in what you know, and I encourage that mindset.”
Her biggest lessons so far? “Never give up and never be greedy. I’ve made trades that weren’t successful, but that’s part of the journey.”
