Saint Louis Crisis Nursery

35 Years of Offering Support for Parents and Safety for Children

The Saint Louis Crisis Nursery provides a short-term, safe haven for 5,000 children a year, birth through age 12, whose families face an emergency caused by illness, homelessness, domestic violence or overwhelming parental stress. The non-profit organization is a recognized leader in the prevention of child abuse and neglect in the region.

Parents bring children to the Nursery free of charge, on a voluntary basis where they receive a medical exam, therapeutic activities, nutritious meals and take-home necessities. Parents receive crisis counseling, in-home visits, parent educational groups, and community outreach. Since 1986, the Crisis Nursery has kept 125,000 children safe with 4.84 million hours of crisis care.

“As the Saint Louis Crisis Nursery celebrates its 35th birthday this year, we recognize the strength of the families who turned to us when they needed help. And we thank everyone who has supported the Crisis Nursery monetarily and with their time or talents,” says DiAnne Mueller, CEO of the Crisis Nursery.

For 2021, the Crisis Nursery has expanded its annual “Celebrity Night for the Nursery” to include several locations around the area on Thursday, August 19. The fundraising event will include sports celebrities, media celebrities, business celebrities, and community celebrities—as well as Spiderman, Wonder Woman, and Elvis, along with music, balloon artists, and free samples.

“We know that parenting is hard, and if parents do not have support, children can bear the brunt of parental anger and stress. Every penny raised at Celebrity Night will be used in our area to help kids and families.”
