Every parent knows the pressure of filling a child’s time, especially during summer when the familiar structure of school disappears. Camps and programs help maintain routine, but as an art therapist and mother of two, Eileen Kim questioned whether simply keeping children busy was enough.
Throughout her career as a mental health specialist, Eileen became dissatisfied with what she calls the “reactive approach” of traditional therapy. “I often witnessed therapy beginning after problems had already surfaced,” she says. “I began to feel strongly that supporting children earlier through prevention, emotional awareness, and healthy development was even more important.”
With this belief, Eileen founded Hello Heart Creative Studio in 2023—not simply as a place to occupy children’s time, but as a space where creativity, confidence, and emotional intelligence are nurtured as a foundation for lifelong wellbeing and happiness.
Hello Heart’s philosophy is rooted in art education. Through years of experience in art therapy, Eileen developed a deep understanding of art’s role in childhood development. “Through art, children process emotions, develop problem-solving skills, and build confidence in their own ideas,” she explains. “When combined with social-emotional learning, art becomes more than creativity. It becomes a tool for understanding oneself and the world.”
These ideas are deepened through Hello Heart’s intentionally designed curriculum, where each lesson is thoughtfully crafted with purpose and care by an in-house team of passionate educators.
Rather than measuring success through finished projects or technical perfection, Hello Heart values curiosity, reflection, and emotional connection. Instead of replicating a model or reaching a “correct” outcome, children are encouraged to see setbacks and triumphs as opportunities for meaningful growth.
Whether through summer camps or after-school programs, Hello Heart continues redefining enrichment by placing emotional well-being at the center of education. As Eileen says, “When a child’s heart feels seen, that’s when learning truly begins.” Please visit https://www.helloheartstudio.com/ for more information.
