Jocelyn Sims, Traders Point Creamery senior event manager, says their Outside Dairy Bar is a go-to for kids each summer. The dairy bar is open through Labor Day on weekends: Saturdays 4-8 p.m. and Sundays 12-3 p.m.

Traders Point Creamery staffers started bottling certified organic milk and selling direct to customers in the central Indiana region during the summer of 2003. As the first USDA-certified organic farm in Indiana, their team states they're committed to never using synthetic fertilizers, pesticides, herbicides, antibiotics or hormones. Their milk is certified organic by an independent certification authority, Indiana Certified Organic, who verifies USDA standards. Their herd of Brown Swiss and Jersey cows is 100% grassfed and free to roam in their pastures of well-cultivated grass blends.
They produce artisan dairy products in small batches using traditional methods, using minimally invasive methods to retain as much of the milk’s natural flavor, character and health benefits as possible.
The group's "Evening Cow Milking" session enables guests to watch the process. They are held Tuesdays through Saturdays at 6:30 p.m. in the milk parlor, except during Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve and Christmas Day.
One-Of-A-Kind Yoga: Stretch, Snuggle And Smile
When seeking a unique experience, the creamery offers periodic yoga sessions with either puppies or goats. The objective is to merge the calming effects of yoga with the delightful presence of cute puppies or rambunctious goats.
Erin Peckinpaugh, owner of Rise Yoga and Events, hosts these yoga experiences at Traders Point Creamery in partnership with the Humane Society for Boone County. "We host 18 sessions there between January through June and October through December. There's no air-conditioning in the barn, so we don't do hot months for the welfare of the animals," she states.
Erin says they've partnered with the creamery since May of 2018 and have raised more than $50,000 for nonprofits.
Yoga with puppies and goats at the creamery was most recently held in June. The next sessions with both animals are scheduled for Sunday, Oct. 4 (puppies at 11 a.m. and goats at 1 p.m.) as well as Sunday, Nov. 8 (same schedule as on Oct. 4). Each session is 60 minutes each in a rustic barn, and includes beginners' Vinyasa Flow Yoga. Reservations can be made online; tickets are $35 each.
The Humane Society for Boone County remains an animal shelter with a reported live release/save-rate of 97.04%. The facility is located at 5366 S. Indianapolis Road in Whitestown.
"We started combining yoga with animals in May of 2018 and realized animal therapy accomplishes more than we imagined," shares Erin. "Participants are out of their heads and in their bodies laughing, cuddling the animals and stretching. It helps with socialization for the adoptable puppies, and provides a unique experience for the yogis. The barn at Traders Point Creamery is a dream setting."
