Before it was a business, The Bond Bar was personal.
Melanie and James Moore built it from the things they loved most: well-made cocktails, good cigars, beautiful rooms and dinners that stretched late into the night. The husband-and-wife team wanted to bring that same feeling to other people’s celebrations.
That idea became The Bond Bar, an Arizona based cocktail and cigar experience shaped by both their personalities. Melanie is the creative force, drawn to drinks, design and the details guests notice. James works behind the scenes on operations and strategy, bringing his knowledge of cigars, spirits and heritage.
“You can see a little of both of us in everything we create,” they say.
Their different tastes became an advantage. Melanie brings a lighter, more playful approach to entertaining. James leans toward the traditions of whiskey and cigar culture.

The Churchill grew from that balance. The mobile cocktail and cigar lounge has a dark exterior, a warm interior and a built in humidor. Its design recalls the character of an old cocktail lounge, but it was created for Arizona homes and events.
The original question behind it was simple: What if the bar itself could become part of the experience?
Building The Churchill meant thinking beyond how it would look. The layout had to allow bartenders to work while guests gathered nearby. The humidor needed to function as part of the lounge. The space had to feel intimate without becoming separate from the party.
What emerged was less a trailer than a room that could arrive with the guests.
The Bond Bar has since expanded to include more flexible bars and a roaming humidor cart called The Kensington. But Melanie and James do not want any of those pieces to overpower the occasion.
"Our role to complement the event rather than compete with it."
That restraint carries into the drinks.
A custom cocktail menu begins with the hosts. Melanie considers what they like to drink, the food being served, the season and the personality of the gathering. A wedding may call for something refined and classic. Another celebration might invite humor, color or an unexpected flavor.
The menu becomes a way to reveal something about the people hosting the evening.
At Treasure House’s Smoke & Strings event, held at the private home of Brenda and Kurt Warner, smoke became the thread connecting the evening. It carried through the cocktails, cigar experience and late night coffee service, turning three distinct moments into one cohesive experience.
That sense of progression is central to how they entertain. In their ideal evening, guests would arrive at an Arizona home just before sunset. The Churchill would be glowing. Martinis and Champagne would circulate while music played softly enough for conversation.
Post dinner, The Kensington would appear with cigars, whiskey and after dinner cocktails.
“The entire night would unfold in chapters,” they say.
The cigars bring their own pace. Experienced smokers may know exactly what they want, while a first time guest may need help choosing. The goal is to make the experience comfortable, not ceremonial or intimidating. A guest can ask questions, try something unfamiliar, and enjoy it at their own pace.
That same awareness guides the service behind the bar.
Melanie and James have learned that different rooms require different energy. At an intimate dinner, the team may need to be quiet and understated. At a larger celebration, they can become more social and join the fun.
"Reading the room matters more than following a script. Pouring a drink is what we do... Hospitality is how we do it.”
At heart, The Bond Bar is the duo's idea of a perfect evening: good drinks, unhurried company and no reason to leave early.
