Shining On the Ice

Show support to Cedar Park’s local American Hockey League team, the Texas Stars, and their Texas Stars Foundation

When you take your seat at a Texas Stars game, expect high energy. From the moment the puck drops to the final buzzer, the H-E-B Center is filled with excitement.

“Attending a hockey game in person is unlike any other sport,” says Broadcasting and Media Relations Manager John Peterson. “The in-game entertainment, fan experiences, music, goal horn, intermission games, etc. make it memorable for the entire family.”

“Texas Stars games are engineered to entertain novice or seasoned hockey fans. They are action-packed and loud,” says Marketing and Social Media Manager Shelby Haney. “Whether it’s your first or 100th game, you’re guaranteed a good time.”

The players’ devotion is evident on the ice. But beyond the thrill of the game, the team stays committed to community involvement through the Texas Stars Foundation, which supports local non-profits, schools, businesses, and hospitals.

Captain Curtis McKenzie even started a program called Captain’s Kids. Children with illnesses, special needs, and unique home situations can have a one-of-a-kind game-day experience with their families.

“My favorite part of working for the Texas Stars is bringing the brand to life,” says Haney. “I love being on the front lines online through our social channels and engaging with our fans. I also love getting to put together theme nights and activities for when they attend our games, making sure they leave with a positive experience.”

“Not many people can truly say they love what they do. I can honestly say that I do,” says Peterson. “I love coming to work every day, being around the team, mingling with the fans, and getting paid to watch hockey—a sport I’ve had a passion for since I was a kid. It’s not something I take for granted.”
