Fashion is merely art that is worn.
Therefore, it is only natural that a modeling session feels right at home in an art gallery. To that end, the Monthaven Arts & Cultural Center in Hendersonville recently hosted four local ladies who modeled a fashionable blend of Americana-themed clothing and accessories against a backdrop of paintings and sculpture.
Models Joy Walling (owner of Designer OMI Beads), Cheyanne Johnson (owner of Helping Hands Cleaning), Gina Pearson (stylist at Blownaway Salon Suites and Beauty Bar) and Tina Marie Taraczkozy (personal shopper and stylist) spent an afternoon wearing a variety of styles selected to complement the art featured in two current exhibitions: I Didn’t Know How to Tell You by various artists and American Flags by painter Tim Yanke.
The I Didn’t Know How to Tell You exhibition features various artwork created by veterans of the armed forces. All of the works on display were coordinated by CreatiVets, an organization dedicated to providing combat veterans struggling with post-traumatic stress and traumatic brain injury with opportunities to use art, music and creative writing to ease their trauma and to heal their unseen wounds of war.
Tim Yanke is an American artist who uses the color and cultural influences of the U.S. Southwest to create his bold, abstract paintings. His American Flags exhibit, also known as Yanke Doodles, showcases stylized paintings of the U.S. flags and other patriotic images using bright, surreal colors.
During their fashion session, the four models wore several different styles of clothing and jewelry that was provided by local style shops. Featured vendors include OMI Beads, My Style Scoop, Bates Boutique and Gold & Company. Each of the items was carefully selected for color and texture in order to blend in with the themes of the artwork on display.
