Golden Clothing Store
If you’re looking for an “every day, cool girl next door” vibe, Golden Clothing Store has you covered. With an extensive background in retail and marketing, owner Jennifer Alexander Locken opened Golden Clothing Store as an online store four years ago. After lots (and lots) of pop-ups, Locken set her sights on an actual storefront, and landed on Bickford Avenue. Locken said she wanted to create a fresh and fun environment for people to shop, learn style tips, and feel beautiful and comfortable in what they’re wearing. Locken personally curates all the clothing at the shop and runs all the marketing avenues, focusing on easy and wearable items that are comfortable but can also transition from day to night. But what makes Golden Clothing Store stand out? Their denim. They have a lot of denim choices, featuring a wide variety of brands and styles (such as AG Denim, Eunina, Hidden, and Unpublished.) Locken said the store is homey, laid back and fun, with price tags that are affordable. “I wanted to bring energy to the store, but not have it be intimidating,” she said. So if you’re still seeking that PERFECT pair of jeans, or are just looking to stock up on your layering pieces for fall, make sure to visit the Golden Clothing Store at 1800 Bickford Ave, Suite 204 (right next to Josh’s Caps & Taps!) or online at https://www.theshopgolden.com/
Edit - an Olive and Bloom Co.
Located in the heart of First Street, Edit – an Olive and Bloom Co., features an entire lifestyle marketplace with men’s, women’s, and baby apparel, along with home décor, furniture, housewares, gifts and more. With a whole lot of help and support, Rachelle Cunningham, a Snohomish mom of four boys, completely transformed the previous space and opened the store in April 2021. She has been loving helping community members find their perfect pieces ever since. Edit customers say the store is “perfectly curated,” the quality of the items is “unmatched” and the employees are “always friendly and helpful.” Which is probably why Lamb & Co’s Leslie and Lyndsay Lamb are friends and frequent shoppers, sporting many of Edit’s pieces on their HGTV show “Unsellable Houses.” But with a fun and intentional atmosphere, a solid staff who makes sure everyone leaves content, and a load of customizable options, it’s no wonder the store is many local’s favorite. Even their furniture pieces are customizable, with a variety of colors and prints to choose from, including Pendleton and leather options. Aside from the various plants and ferns hanging from the ceiling, one feature that really stands out in the store is the huge wall-size chalkboard calendar, created every month by Jordyn Lee, local artist and photographer. The vibrant colors, encouraging messages, and intentional artwork make for a fun, personal touch while you peruse the racks. And unlike other Snohomish boutiques, Edit is open seven days a week from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Wednesday, and 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Thursday through Sunday – so you’ll never miss them! You can find them at 1001 First Street or on Instagram at https://www.instagram.com/edit_anoliveandbloomco.
Peaches
“It’s like shopping in your best friend’s closet.” That’s how Kay Gailey describes Peaches, the boutique she owns with her two daughters, Acacia and Cynnia. From clothing to beauty products to gift items, everything in the store is something Kay, Acacia or Cynnia would want to buy themselves. “One of us has to love it,” Kay said. “Every single thing in the store is one of our favorites.” Some of their favorite brands they carry include Free People, Michael Stars, Saltwater Lux, Vuori and Barefoot Dreams. “We like to look good, but we also like to be comfortable,” Kay said. “We stay away from fast fashion and stick with the core brands we’ve been using for years.” Located in the old Snohomish jail, Peaches is literally “underground,” making it hard for passersby to notice. Kay said they put out a sign and balloons every day, but most people who come into the shop are return customers. “I feel like once they get down there and see it, they want to come back.” The most popular item they sell is their “Peaches” sweatshirt, featuring a Peach outline on the upper sleeve, so you can wear a vest over and still see the design. This is the same peach that’s tattooed on the three girls. “Our family motto is ‘Always Be a Peach,’” said Kay. “If you can be a peach through anything, you’ll have a good life.” With online ordering for in-store pickup, loads of fun classes and parties, and a brand new “Peaches Underground” to occupy the men while the women shop, this boutique checks all the boxes for a downtown Snohomish boutique. Check them out at 1024 1st Street or at https://alwaysbeapeach.com/.
Maple + Moss Boutique
Walking into Maple + Moss, you may be greeted by owner Kortney Henry, or if you’re lucky, her handsome sidekick/resident shop dog, Jimmy. Your one-stop shop for all things Pacific Northwest lifestyle, this downtown Snohomish boutique has been offering a curated selection of men’s and women's clothing, accessories, candles, mugs and glassware, and jewelry for nearly 10 years. Henry describes the shop style as “laid-back” and “effortlessly chic,” with a focus on super soft fabrics and flattering silhouettes. From the perfect hoodie, tee shirt, dress, or denim, they have everything you need to elevate your wardrobe. Henry said one of their most popular collections is the Rainer Beer collection for men, featuring unique and stylish pieces inspired by the iconic Pacific Northwest brew. For women, the elevated bamboo basics are a fan favorite, offering comfort and style all in one. But Maple + Moss is not just about fashion – they are deeply committed to the community, supporting and volunteering for many Snohomish causes, such as the Zombie Walk, the Snohomish food bank, and Pasados Animal Safe Haven through their annual Pink Giving Tree. As the storefront window says, “Community is always in style.” So whether you're looking for a casual everyday look, a true PNW adventure outfit, or something special for a night out, Maple + Moss Boutique has you covered.
