You Got The Right Sled, Get The Right Gear

GALLATIN RECREATION GETS SERIOUS ENTHUSIASTS INTO SERIOUS GEAR

When we began planning for a winter snowmobile trip we knew we could turn to our friends over at Gallatin Recreation Polaris. They carry everything needed to brave the mountain elements in both Men’s and Women’s configurations, along with expert knowledge on each piece. Since their staff are snowmobile enthusiasts first, we had no doubts in placing our confidence in their recommendations of KLIM and 509 gear. The entire staff has strenuously put these two brands to the test with many hours in the deep backcountry powder. Quality fabric and materials are a must in this environment, and the products they carry feature both. We took this opportunity to build out both a men’s and women’s version of a sledder’s perfect setup for the Big Sky’s backcountry. Read on to see why we selected the options we did.

KLIM has destroyed barriers by developing riding gear specifically fitted for women riders! The  Base Layer Solstice Shirt and Pants 1.0 are low profile, moisture-wicking, and highly breathable. When paired with their Cold Weather Socks it creates a perfect 1st layer to keep you warm on the mountain.

2 509 offers a great line of base layering products. Shown here are the 509 FZN LVL 1 Shirt and Pants which are super lightweight, moisture-wicking, and antimicrobial. This layout also features the 509 R-Mor Protection Vest which is CE Level 1 certified front and back protection, all while maintaining a low profile and weight.

3 KLIM’s outer shell selection features their Ladies Alpine Jacket and Allure Bib set. The jacket has a removable powder skirt and hood. Adjustable sleeve collars and no over-laying fabric reduces any bulkiness. Allure Bibs are well insulated and waterproof. Both feature 3M Thinsulate, GORE-TEX construction, and YKK Zippers.

The 509 Allied Mono Suit offers a touch of retro style with all of the most advanced fabrics to keep you toasty on the mountain. This one-piece outer shell option features 5TECH™ Pro 3 layer stretch material with vents to help keep it breathable for those sunny days in the snow, and all seams are fusion welded to keep all-weather out when it's brisk!

For headgear, we selected the KLIM F3 Carbon Helmet ECE and 509 Aviator 2.0 Ignite Goggles. The F3 Helmet is ultra-lightweight while exceeding ECE certifications. It is neck brace compatible and extremely comfortable. The Aviator Goggles feature a military-derived heated lens to keep from fogging up.

6 To keep our hands and feet warm we opted for the KLIM Aurora GTX BOA Boot and KLIM Klimate Gauntlet Glove. Both are available in Men's or Women's sizing and feature 3M™ THINSULATE™ and a GORE-TEX® membrane to keep that insulation dry. For added avalanche safety we included the KLIM Backcountry Shovel with an integrated saw.
