Solutions Medical Center’s concept includes a functional medicine clinic, a modern aesthetics center, an IV Micronutrient treatment room, nutrition and health coaching and a new compounding pharmacy. Kate Gassaway, RN, MSN, APRN-BC, is the founder and CEO. Her whole-person focus on health, wellness, nutrition, mental health and aesthetics has a vast, devoted clientele, such that Solutions Medical will welcome customers in a new, larger location on January 1.
Their doors originally opened on Valentine’s Day, 2008, which marks this February as their 15th year. “We have loved being in Collierville but couldn’t find a space that accommodated our growing needs, so we looked around and found a fabulous space with the help of Joe Jarratt and Robert Fogelman at Twin Bridges Investments.
Ever since Kate was a little girl, she dreamt of having a clinic that made people look and feel better. She even wrote a paper about it in the sixth grade. Solutions Medical is the realization of that goal, and her lifelong study, research and practice led her to the practice of functional medicine.
“People should stop covering up their symptoms and never feeling like their best selves,” Kate asserts. She explains that conventional medicine focuses on treating symptoms. “For instance, if you see a conventional healthcare provider for depression, you may be prescribed an anti-depressant. If you have chronic pain, the doctor may prescribe pain-relieving medicine.” In contrast, functional medicine aims to find the root cause of a health problem versus focusing on one or two symptoms.
Kate’s outlook is an admirable one to follow into the new year. If you want to get healthier, lose weight, sleep better, reduce pain, or address any other resolutions you set, Solutions Medical’s first step is to understand how your body works. Knowing how and where to investigate issues, knowing what to look for, recognizing the significance of what is found, and creating a plan of action to reverse and correct the cause of the health issue make up Kate’s primary prescription for achieving a better quality of life.
As she tells her patients, “Nobody can go back and start a new beginning, but anyone can start today and make a new ending.”
