Katina's Nurse Nee Nee Nurtures Young Minds

Local resident Katina, DNP, APRN, CRNA, is revolutionizing children's health education with her innovative Nurse Nee Nee Series™. Drawing from her experience as a Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist, Katina has created a collection of books aimed at alleviating children's fears and anxieties surrounding medical procedures.

The inspiration for the series came from Katina's observations of pediatric patients struggling with the unknown aspects of medical care. "I was inspired to create the Nurse Nee Nee Series™ after years of watching pediatric patients exhibit negative emotions - fear, anxiety, feeling overwhelmed - that often result from not knowing what to expect," Katina explains.

The impact of her work is already evident. After the release of "Anesthesia From A-Z With Nurse Nee Nee" last May, a mother shared how her son became enamored with the book, reading it nightly and even sharing it with his pediatrician during an appointment. This anecdote underscores the series' effectiveness in demystifying medical experiences for young children.

Katina's roots in Cobb County play a significant role in her work. The family-friendly atmosphere of the Smyrna Vinings area serves as a constant reminder of her mission. "When I see parents with their little ones at our parks, on the trails, and at community festivals and events, I immediately think about how my stories will help," she says.

Looking ahead, Katina aims to establish herself as a child health literacy advocate. Her goals include making the Nurse Nee Nee Series™ a staple on children's bookshelves at home, in school classrooms and libraries, and at pediatrician's offices. This summer, she plans to release her first bilingual book, an English-Spanish translation of "Anesthesia From A-Z With Nurse Nee Nee," along with a corresponding Pretend and Play Bundle.

When she's not writing or working as a CRNA, Katina unwinds on the Silver Comet trail, enjoying long walks, bike rides, and training runs. Her multifaceted approach to life and work exemplifies the vibrant spirit of our Smyrna Vinings community.

"Empowering children through stories, Nurse Nee Nee turns medical fears into understanding."
