Expert Tips from Southern Grace Home on Stress-Free Spring Organization

Spring cleaning is the perfect time to refresh your home, but some spaces tend to be overlooked. From forgotten corners to routine maintenance, founder of Southern Grace Home, Grace Sullivan, shares practical tips for tackling the to-do list, creating a manageable plan and bringing a sense of order to your space.

What key areas of the home often get overlooked during spring cleaning, and how do you recommend tackling them effectively?

Grace: Playrooms, laundry room cabinets, kitchen pantries, baseboards, ceiling fans and refrigerators are just some of the areas that tend to get overlooked in a home. SGH can not only help a family reset the home with an organizational overhaul, but we can also recommend excellent cleaning companies to deep clean the home if needed.

How can families create a manageable plan for routine home maintenance to prevent minor issues from turning into major problems?

Grace: At SGH, we create a home maintenance plan that works for each individual homeowner. We do an annual walk-through of the home and document dreams/goals along with the priorities that need attention that year. Next, we get estimates from contractors, so the homeowner knows what to expect financially. Finally, we create a maintenance timeline that works for them. We also build in a plan for emergency repairs that can potentially shift goals for the year.

What advice would you give to families who feel overwhelmed by the sheer amount of tasks that come with seasonal cleaning and maintenance?

Grace: We have to remember that it’s okay to ask for help! Some families even feel embarrassed about their home and its condition. SGH can step in to help them get back on track. We want each homeowner to love their space and feel comfortable sharing it with others. We help by bringing peace and no judgment into the home. Our goal is to make life easier, not add to the stress.
