May

May is already here and rainy season is around the corner (thankfully). With Spring in full bloom, so are we here at Rotunda Homes. This year we have expanded into Citrus County and are getting more requests to build in Sumter County. With more and more people fleeing the urban or suburban living filled with CDD's, for small acreage homesites, makes finding good buildable property that much more challenging.

When looking for land, please do not hesitate to involve us in this process. We would love to see the homesite you have in mind, look at the trees, potential wetlands, topography and how we are going to navigate all of that. Here are a couple of good tips when searching for land.

  1. If you see arial photos of trees and notice that those trees have no leaves and look gray then likely those trees are Cypress. A tree that is protected an only grows in wet areas. A good indicator for you to identify the usable upland versus wetland.

  2. If you arrive at the property and the ground is lower than the road, then added costs are likely to incorporate a foundation that will rise above the road, ensuring water flows away from the home properly.

  3. Wind Zone and Flood Zones are very common here in Florida. We will look at how the lot is impacted and what potential costs may be associated. Please contact us to help further investigate.

No two pieces of property are the same and as such any potential property you encounter, please contact us to help you make a sound decision.
