Art Evolution From School Building In Iran To Fulfilling Dream In United States

Mixed media artist Zahra Jahanyfard launched Zahra Studio (translation:  brightness) 24 years ago. However, this childhood dream started during the early 1980s in Iran/Persia.

Now, Zahra teaches art classes from her Frisco-based home gallery for all aged students -- kindergarten through retirees -- who want to learn drawing, sculpting and painting. "During COVID, people asked me if I would come to their backyards or homes to help them with art. It's where we all started feeling safe," she recalls. "So, I helped students channel cozy creativity into their own unique artworks."

In 2007, Zahra and her family moved to the United States. After relocating to Frisco in 2017, she served as Frisco Fine Art Gallery's education director, and taught at Junction Arts, often partnering in community projects with fellow Frisco artist Nazanin Ahmady.

"It's so satisfying to be in the moment with students, seeing their confidence grow," she adds.

Zahra serves as the director of community reach for Visual Arts Guild of Frisco. Additionally, she paints for her personal collection, as well as commissioned pieces and portraits.
