Annette Johnson, founder and owner of Stadtkind Photography, is an award-winning photographer based in Frederick who is passionate about capturing sweet memories and bringing them to life. Hailing from Mainze, Germany, Annette moved to the United States in 2000, as an au pair, determined to find her path. Shortly after, she met her husband and her future was set. Two years later, they married in the U.S., and in 2005, they held their church wedding in Germany. That’s when her passion for photography really caught wind.
With a growing interest in the field, working with her wedding photographer sparked things into motion. Before she knew it, her hobby grew to a business, and she found the path she’d been looking for–and nobody does it like her. Annette specializes in family photography, ranging everywhere from newborn portraits, to maternity shots, to photos of the whole family–and they are pure magic. Making use of both ambient and created light, her pictures are a work of art–her child portraits bearing an especially fantastical and ethereal quality. Her beautiful downtown Frederick studio is complete with a stocked wardrobe containing one-of-a-kind, handmade couture dresses for girls and maternity outfits for expecting mothers.
