Stay Skyeview: A Home That Belongs to the Mountain

A look inside the Valley’s most esteemed desert retreat, where exclusivity is made accessible

Trent Hancock wasn’t looking for his next big project when he found Skyeview—he was just driving, something he often does to clear his head. But as he wound up 56th Street, a “For Sale” sign caught his eye. Hidden behind a gate, the property was easy to miss, but Trent had a feeling. He called immediately.

The house had been sitting untouched, a 1970s relic left behind as interest rates climbed. It wasn’t much to look at—asbestos shake tile, Spanish lace stucco, and concrete everywhere. A pool fence blocked the view entirely. The previous owner had filled the lot with trees, sealing himself off from the world.

But Trent saw more, especially being the third generation of the Hancock family- the family behind Camelot Homes.

“It had bones,” he says. “And it had the view. Everything else could be reimagined.”

Trent had always been drawn to projects that required vision. Skyeview wasn’t just another remodel—it was a test. Could a luxury rental feel like home? Could a private retreat match the amenities of a five-star resort? Could something this small live large?

“People don’t need 10,000 square feet to feel luxury,” Trent says. “They need thoughtful design. A home that feels good to be in.”

The previous owner had prioritized privacy so much that he lost sight of what made the property special. Trent knew immediately that had to change.

“It was like he built a fortress against the most incredible backdrop you could ask for.”

That backdrop became the focus. Skyeview had to feel open, effortless. Every wall, every material, every finish needed to complement what was already there.

"Camelback Mountain is granite, and this home feels like it was carved right into it,” he says. “It looks like it could have been here for a hundred years.”

The design became an exercise in restraint. The exterior is clad in Lunawood, a thermally modified wood from Norway chosen for its durability against Arizona’s harsh climate. Trent loved that it wouldn’t need treatment; that it would fade naturally over time.

“The best materials age with the home,” he explains. “You let the desert do its thing.”

Every inch of Skyeview is designed to elevate the experience. The wraparound decks dissolve the barrier between indoors and out, creating a seamless connection to the breathtaking desert landscape. The soaking tubs transform a simple bath into an immersive, almost meditative retreat. The trust-system bar invites guests to indulge at their own pace, reinforcing the effortless luxury that defines the space.

The pool is nothing short of a private resort, complete with lounge chairs, a cabana, a jacuzzi, and a sauna, offering guests a spa-like sanctuary where relaxation meets refinement. The open-concept kitchen spills into the living room, framed by floor-to-ceiling glass doors that erase the divide between inside and the vast expanse of the Valley below. Every space is furnished to perfection, a carefully curated balance of modern elegance and natural warmth, ensuring that Skyeview is not just a place to stay, but an experience that lingers long after guests depart.

It’s a personal resort without limits, and it adapts effortlessly to whatever guests need. It’s been a setting for intimate gatherings, girl weekends, wellness retreats, corporate offsites, and late-night conversations by the fire. But at its core, it’s about connection—to nature, to others, to yourself.

“The outdoor tubs might be my favorite feature,” Trent says. “There’s something surreal about soaking in hot water while looking out over the entire Valley. You feel like you’re on top of the world.”

Skyeview isn’t just a rental—it’s a feeling. A place where time slows, where the desert reminds you to breathe, where every sunset looks like it was painted just for you.

“Skyeview isn’t meant to be sold—it’s meant to be shared,” he says.

Properties like this, perched high on Camelback Mountain with unrivaled views and rare privacy, are almost never accessible to the public. Rather than turning it into just another private estate, the vision is to preserve it as an experience—a place where both locals and visitors can immerse themselves in the beauty of the desert from a vantage point few ever get to see.

“Skyeview is more than a home; it’s a piece of the mountain, a retreat that blends luxury, design, and nature in a way that deserves to be appreciated, not hidden away. Luxury isn’t about square footage,” Trent says. “It’s about how a place makes you feel.”
