Get ready for an unforgettable evening at this year’s Stems: A Garden Soirée. As one of the region’s most beloved summer traditions, Stems is more than just a beautiful night out—it’s a celebration with a purpose.
“This year’s Stems promises an unforgettable evening of fine wine, incredible cuisine, live music, and immersive entertainment set against the breathtaking backdrop of the Overland Park Arboretum & Botanical Gardens,” says Brit Waye, Community Engagement Manager of the Arts & Recreation Foundation of Overland Park (ARFOP). “Guests will sip, taste, and celebrate in the gardens while supporting a powerful mission that has enriched the community for 30 years.”
The event will showcase a lineup of Overland Park’s top restaurants, featuring delicious tastings from Atomic Cowboy, Kate Smith Soirée, Taco Naco, Strang Chef Collective, BrewLab, Teocali Mexican Restaurant & Cantina, Gus's Fried Chicken, Of Course Kitchen & Company, and many more.
“From gourmet tastings by the area’s top chefs to signature cocktails, craft beers, and local wines, there’s something for every palate, each offering unique dishes that highlight our vibrant culinary scene.”
As you stroll through the gardens, enjoy live music, balloon art, caricature drawings, and tarot readings. Browse and purchase open air paintings created by local artists, capturing beautiful scenes from around the KC metro. The evening ends on a high note with a fireworks display reflected in the Arboretum’s serene water features.
“This year’s Stems is all about celebrating our Foundation’s 30-year milestone of making a meaningful impact in the Overland Park community since 1995. While the event remains a beloved summer tradition, we’re placing a special spotlight on how far we’ve come and the vital role this fundraiser plays in ensuring our mission continues for decades to come.”
Proceeds from Stems directly support key projects at the Overland Park Arboretum & Botanical Gardens, Deanna Rose Children’s Farmstead, and public art initiatives throughout the city. These funds make possible transformative projects like the LongHouse Visitor Center, new garden spaces, playground accessibility features, and educational programs for underserved children.
“Last year, ARFOP’s grants to the city of Overland Park totaled over $3 million, funding projects like a new space for horse-drawn wagon rides at the Farmstead’s Draft Horse Depot, art scholarships, free community concerts, and summer field trip programs that reached over 1,000 children in need. When you buy a ticket or sponsor Stems, you're directly contributing to the ongoing growth, accessibility, and enrichment of our city’s most cherished spaces.”
For those looking to elevate their experience, the VIP Patron ticket offers an exclusive one-hour early entry to enjoy delicious food, refreshing drinks, and unique experiences in the private spaces of LongHouse.
“This year, the event is a special celebration of everything we’ve accomplished together, and a toast to the future of arts and recreation in our community.”
