Renovated Westin Stonebriar Offers Laidback Luxury In Wide-Open Spaces With True Texas Graces Along With Lone Star Flavors

The Westin Stonebriar in Frisco didn't just go through an extensive physical renovation -- its team spearheaded a complete property revitalization to become a premier luxury, wellness destination.

A $30 million renovation of the hotel began last January, followed by reopening in October. With a bulk of the project completed, Shannon Campbell, Westin Stonebriar area director of sales, says there are still more updates to which to look forward being finished this spring:  luxury spa, resort-style pool with private cabanas, poolside bar, water slide, splash pad, and Westin Family Kids Club.

Prism Hotels and Resorts' representatives are still managing the location, which now offers its own brand of wellness.

"We define wellness as aligning an ideal balance for the mind, body and soul. We achieve this balance throughout sweeping outdoor scenery and upscale yet comfortable interiors," says Shannon. "The Westin Stonebriar represents the ideal space to gather, connect and unwind. Guests focus on their personal wellness."

Each Stonebriar room features modern design elements alongside earthy tones to create peaceful atmospheres to relax and reset away from everyday hustles and bustles, assures Shannon. "Guests can expect the signature Westin experience during their stay with thoughtful touches, such as the Westin Heavenly Beds with pillowtop mattresses and premium linens, along with breathtaking views of the spanning landscape," she adds.

Being influenced by the sights, sounds and activities of its local community, Shannon says Stonebriar's spacious accommodations translate into room for spreading out energetically, especially for local 'staycationers.'

"We're a tranquil oasis outside of the city, but still close to the action. The best part is that we still provide our highly regarded friendly and unpretentious service here in Frisco. From our Topgolf Swing Suite to our forthcoming luxury spa, there's something to do for everyone without having to leave the property," explains Shannon.

James Montgomery, Westin Stonebriar general manager, says they believe the recently recreated hotel property enables travelers to feel more confident and comfortable when they visit. "With plenty of room to roam and our new wellness offerings, we believe both of these factors will play a larger part of what both leisure and business travelers alike will expect when making travel plans," he adds.

Some consider the property the only destination of its kind in the region. The hotel has 302 upscale guest rooms, more than 26,000 square feet of meeting and event space, and sophisticated amenities. Included in the renovation is a new, on-site golf pro shop, state-of-the-art Westin Workout Fitness Studio and Topgolf Swing Suite.

Just minutes from The Star, Legacy West and The Grandscape, the Stonebriar also encompasses logistically handy accommodations.

New Food/Beverage Concepts Pay Tribute To Southern Culture

Chris Ochiltree, Westin Stonebriar director of culinary and beverage operations, created new menus that combine Southern hospitality with artfully prepared wood-fired and smoked plates using locally sourced ingredients to deliver what he calls "bespoke farm-to-fork experiences."

Three new, on-site culinary options include a day-to-night coffee bar and cocktail lounge called Beans & Barrel, which provides grab-and-go, curated local bites and beverages.

The property's full-service Southern dining destination, Herd & Hearth, celebrates unique flavors and traditions of the Lone Star State.

Ranch Water is an outdoor oasis slated to open adjacent to the pool this spring. Affectionately named after the popular Southern beverage, Ranch Water will offer refreshing libations that use Texas spirits and non-alcoholic options alongside light poolside fare.

With wellness top-of-mind throughout all of the experiences on the property, guests can enjoy health-conscious, Westin Eat Well menu suggestions at each outlet.

Chris says the ultimate goal of the culinary team was to create experiences that combine warm Southern hospitality with locally grown ingredients for authentic enjoyment. "Think Texas re-imaged, where we invite you to celebrate with us in our one-of-a-kind Texas Food Movement," he suggests.

"We strive for creative food presentations with unique Texas twists. Throughout the day, we offer a full range of Starbucks beverages at Beans & Barrel, crafted to order. Beans & Barrel also features an amazing bar with craft cocktails, an incredible wine list and the coldest beers on tap in Frisco."

In fact, he says local Texas brewery selections, served at 29 degrees or below, are available.

"Herd & Hearth serves breakfast unlike any other in the area, featuring several dishes from our in-house smoker. In the evenings, we'll offer a menu that has both fire and smoke elements true to our Texas heritage, including a Texas S’more dessert flamed tableside for your delight. Additionally, we offer many of our culinary specialties and our full beverage list in our Topgolf Swing Suite, just next to Herd & Hearth," says Chris.

Planned smoked lunches and dinners:

  • Street Tacos:  Oak-smoked brisket, pork verde and cedar-scented salmon
  • Smoked, Free-Range Chicken Wings:  With salsa verde and grilled pineapple
  • Charred Avocado Smash:  With pico de gallo and plantain chips
  • Smoked Brisket White Chili
  • Smoked Texas Akaushi Brisket Sandwich:  Buttered ciabatta, slaw, ancho barbecue glaze, house-made pickles
  • North American Salmon:  Brown rice, maple glaze, grilled lemon, kale saute

Smoked breakfasts include:

  • Texas Benedict
  • Chilaquiles
  • Smoked Honey Greek Yogurt Parfait
  • Burnt Ends Smoked Brisket Hash and Poached Organic Eggs

"I love taking the ordinary and making it extraordinary. Re-thinking standard culinary techniques and presentations sets our offerings apart and gives our guests something they wouldn't normally experience. We also use cast-iron cooking vessels for several dishes to enhance flavor, and using a smoker enables our culinary team to add flavor while keeping ingredients in their purest forms," says Chris.

Given that Stonebriar will be known as a wellness destination, diners also can make special food requests, such as gluten free, low-calorie substitutes and heart-healthy items. For starters, Chris recommends:

  • Black-Eyed Pea Hummus
  • Gluten Free Bison Flatbread
  • Heirloom Tomato Burrata
  • Burrata & Roasted Carrot Toast
  • Cast Iron Roasted Chicken
  • Wild Mushroom Ravioli
  • Roasted Cauliflower Steak

Additionally, he says in Beans & Barrel, they feature made-to-order Westin Fresh Juices, including a mango, cilantro and spinach smoothie, a spicy dandelion juice, a chocolate tahini smoothie or a lavender honey lemonade.
