Mahjong Lessons with Henrietta Alvarez
Is the mother in your life a gamer? Crack, Bam, Dot! Henrietta Alvarez can translate. Played with four players, American Mahjong is a popular tile game. We liken it to rummy with more skill and strategy. Book your mother (and her best friends!) lessons with Henrietta—she is the go-to in town. She teaches 7 days a week (10:30 a.m. – 7:00 p.m.). And if your wife already knows that “jokers are wild cards,” get her a new tile set from Collected by Elizabeth Malmo.

Eclectic Eye
Ok, yes. We do love a robe. But what she really needs is a new pair of sunglasses. Eclectic Eye carries the most stylish lines—Anne et Valentin, Ahlem, RetroSpecs and others. You won’t find a selection (or service) like this anywhere else in town. And their team is patient with finding the right frame for your personal style. Moms, while you are there for a custom fitting, book an eye exam so you can make sure to spot your kid on the field or where the carpool line is snaking.

SUDS Neighborhood Laundry
Kids, if your love language is acts of service, but you still manage to go through 2-3 changes of clothes a day—help a mother out. Drop off all the dirty clothes (and towels!) to SUDS Neighborhood Laundry. They will expertly wash and fold for you. Bring it home and wrap it with a bow. Moms, if it takes you 3-5 business days to fold the laundry… simply book their wash/fold/delivery service for the rest of the year. At least through the summer. Our favorite part about SUDS is their community initiative Loads of Love. Ask them about it. True mothering!

Bluff City Picnics
Breakfast in bed, maybe. Give the mothers in your life an experience. Hire out a Spring soiree for your mother and her friends. Or, guys, go in together for your wives’ next book club meeting. Mallory Lester and Jordan Scarleski of Ashley Lang Events recently took over Bluff City Picnics. Think less bohemian and more polished in the park (poolside or even living room). They can transform any space into an elevated picnic. Select from a menu of catering, décor and even activities from the best vendors. You’ll be sitting pretty at one of their custom-made tables. And who doesn’t want a cotton candy glitter bomb with their champagne?
