Bread Winners Shares Recipe To Enchanting Strawberries And Cream Cake

Strawberries And Cream Cake

10-12 slices

ingredients for strawberry cake layers

16 ounces sugar

6 ounces melted butter

5 eggs

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

¼ cup sour cream

14.5 ounces flour

4 teaspoon baking powder

1 teaspoon salt

12 ¼ ounces strawberry puree

Red food coloring (optional)


Beat together sugar, butter, eggs and vanilla until light in color and fluffy. Add remaining ingredients; stir in strawberry puree. Add two drops red food coloring, if desired. Bake in two 9-inch round pans at 300 degrees for 35-40 minutes. Let cool.


ingredients for whipped cream icing

1 ½ quarts heavy cream

1 ½ cups powdered sugar

1 teaspoon vanilla extract


Beat all ingredients together to desired consistency.

Cake Assembly:  Sliced fresh strawberries, strawberry cake layers, whipped cream icing.


Slice one layer of cake in half. Top half layer with layer of icing, fresh strawberry slices and another thin layer of icing. Add whole layer of cake; repeat. Top with remaining half layer and ice around top and sides of cake. Pipe whipped cream in a border around top of cake; garnish with sliced strawberries, if desired.
