When some seniors see Advanced Physics on their schedule, they start negotiating with parents and school administrators to update their class list. But not Miles Lewis. Instead, Miles asked for robotics classes leading to a transformative year full of competitions and volunteerism.
As a member of the Allen Eagles Robotics, Miles discovered his knack for understanding and fixing just about anything. As a result, he was invited to be a member of the four person Pit Crew as the Fixer. His hard work paid off for the team, which earned two CocoBest (Collin County Boosting Engineering, Science, and Technology program) first place medals, two gold UIL medals, and multiple trophies and plaques for the awards case at the STEAM Center.
In addition to taking part in competitions, Miles also enjoyed helping others discover their love of robotics. Last year, Miles clocked in a minimum of thirteen hours a week working at the STEAM center, mentoring younger teams and assisting at tournaments. This past summer, he also spent over 200 hours teaching robotics camps throughout Texas via Eaglets Camp Code. As he continues his senior year and looks forward to college, Miles can’t wait for his next adventure in robotics.
