Caroline Harper Knapp of House of Harper delivers four easy tips that will level up your fall style.

Caroline Harper Knapp is known for her effortless and authentic style. Fashion, home décor, or mom-life – the category doesn't seem to matter, she has mastered the art of styling a good photo. Knapp began her life as a street style blogger in 2011 while working in the fashion industry in New York. Her blog was comprised of stylish images taken by her, her husband, or local photographers. When her oldest child, Knox, was born, Knapp moved her family to Houston where the content on House of Harper took a more casual turn.

"My fashion has become more casual and mom-friendly," says the mom of three. "Compared to what I wore in New York City, there is more color in my wardrobe. I also have a lot more tablescapes, construction, and decorating ideas on my blog. My blog and Instagram content have always represented my lifestyle."

Coming off a three-month maternity leave after her daughter Millie's birth, Knapp is eager to get back to creating. She recently met with a local photographer to talk about editorial and photography ideas.

"I always try to be a resource of information," she said. "There are two different series on my blog, Mom Crush and Talk Shop, where I interview other women who inspire me. I am working on content and trying to think about what people want or need for this time we are in."

Knapp is always eager to share what she knows, so we sat down to talk about four essential tips for a stylish wardrobe.

Know your body type: Finding clothes that flatter your body type is probably the most essential thing to consider when getting dressed. My body type has changed over the years, and right now I am four months postpartum, so dressing to flatter my current body helps me feel more confident and stylish when I leave the house.

Learn to Layer: Blazers are my best friend, even in the Houston summers. In the hot summer, the A/C is always blasting indoors and in the mild winter months, a blazer makes for the perfect outerwear. Blazers are my year-round go-to layering piece and can make even the most basic jeans and t-shirt look stylish and put together.

Hone Your Style: Some fashion trends are more aligned with my personal style than others. I love when a friend says, "this dress looks like you" because it means I have established a personal style that is both recognizable and consistent with who I am, what makes me happy and feel my most confident. When I try something too far off from that, I typically feel self-conscious and awkward, so I have learned to keep things in my wheelhouse.

Keep it Simple: There is a famous Coco Chanel quote that says, "Before you leave the house, look in the mirror and take at least one thing off." I don't specifically do that, but I agree with what she meant. Too much can take away from the overall outfit and even look like you are trying too hard. For example, instead of the statement earrings, necklace and bracelet, just pick one or two and let them be the outfit's star.
