Budget Blinds of Long Branch Brings Custom Design Home

When Jeff Wosleger launched Budget Blinds of Long Branch in 2018, it wasn’t just a career pivot—it was a reinvention. After years working in media and television advertising sales for companies like Warner Bros. Television, Turner Broadcasting and National CineMedia, Wosleger was looking for something that offered more autonomy, creativity and local connection. The solution came unexpectedly through a friend who had successfully transitioned into the home design world by opening a Budget Blinds franchise.

“I started doing the research and realized the Long Branch area was available,” Wosleger says. “With all the new development in Pier Village and surrounding communities, I saw real potential. There was a growing demand for quality, personalized home upgrades.”

By June 1, 2018, Budget Blinds of Long Branch officially opened its doors—though in this case, the “doors” were often those of his clients’ homes. The franchise, part of a nationally recognized brand, is locally owned and operated, which means every window treatment recommendation, installation and consultation is managed with a personal touch.

“This is your home—I’m standing in your bedroom, your living room,” Wosleger says. “It has to feel right. We’re not a hard-sell business. If someone needs time to think it over, I encourage it.”

The heart of Budget Blinds’ approach is the in-home consultation. It all starts when Janet, the office manager, picks up the phone to learn more about a customer’s project. From there, she coordinates a personalized appointment with either Jeff or Jodi, the team’s design consultant, who comes prepared with an array of fabric and product samples. This hands-on process allows the team to assess the space in real time—considering lighting, layout, privacy needs, and overall design goals.

“We will bring the showroom to you,” he says. “Seeing materials and colors in your actual space—with your lighting and your décor—makes a huge difference. What looks good in a catalog doesn’t always translate in real life.”

Design-forward and highly functional, the company’s offerings include roller shades, woven woods, plantation shutters, layered treatments, blackout solutions, cordless and motorized options, and even full custom drapery. “Roller shades and shutters are our bread and butter, but it’s all about the layers right now,” Wosleger says. “You’re seeing more texture, pattern and personality in window coverings—people want softness and depth.”

As fall approaches, many homeowners look to refresh their interiors and create more comfortable living environments. For Wosleger, it’s one of the busiest times of the year.

“September is big—people are back from vacation, kids are in school, and they start looking at their homes again with fresh eyes,” he says. “Plus, it’s before the holidays, so clients want things done and installed in time for entertaining.”

In addition to visual appeal, functionality is a major factor in helping customers choose the right product. “Window treatments are about more than just looking good,” Wosleger says. “They manage sunlight, protect furniture from UV damage, provide privacy, and help regulate temperature. Something like a honeycomb shade can cut down on energy bills.”

Despite the name, “budget” doesn’t mean low quality. Rather, it’s about customization at every price point. “There’s something for everyone,” he says. “Whether you’re looking for luxury drapery for a large home or stylish yet affordable shades for a starter condo, we have the resources and expertise to make it happen.”

Wosleger’s business is also deeply rooted in customer service and community. Many of his clients come through word-of-mouth or are repeat customers updating different areas of their homes. His team is small but growing—Janet is at the heart of customer service, scheduling appointments and handling all customer follow-ups, while Jodi, who recently relocated from North Jersey, brings a strong background in both design and client relationships.

“She wasn’t even officially applying, but after talking with her I knew she’d be a great fit,” he says. “She brings both design experience and a genuine care for clients.”

That same ethos applies to his installers, who are trained in-house and represent the brand’s commitment to quality and professionalism. “Installation is just as important as design,” Wosleger says. “It has to be perfect. Our team is respectful, clean, and really detail-oriented.”

As a franchisee, Wosleger is also part of a larger national network of fellow owners who collaborate, share insights and support one another. “There’s a great sense of camaraderie,” he says. “We’re not competitors—we’re allies. We learn from each other and help each other succeed.”

Looking ahead, he sees continued growth in Long Branch and surrounding communities as the housing market remains strong and demand for personalized, high-quality home services increases.

“There are more windows in this area than I could ever cover,” Wosleger says with a laugh. “But we’re here to do it right—one window at a time.”

For Wosleger, the journey from media executive to window fashion expert has been both fulfilling and inspiring. “It’s funny—I used to sell commercial spots for big networks,” he says. “Now I’m helping people fall in love with their homes. And honestly, I love it.”
