Style Starts at Home

R Home turns blank spaces into meaningful places—designed with comfort, character, and personal style.

It started with one question: “Where can I get that?”

Zack Girard heard it often while staging model homes with his team at Girard Homes. Each room, carefully styled by lead designer Becky Erdel, sparked curiosity—and serious furniture envy. “People weren’t just interested in the house,” he says. “They wanted the whole look.”

That repeated ask planted the seed for R Home Co.—a downtown design studio and showroom built around livable, layered interiors. “We wanted to create a space where people could see how everything works together,” Girard says. “Not just buy a sofa—create a space.”

Today, R Home is known for its curated vignettes, warm approach, and full-service design offerings. “Whether you’re starting from scratch or adding the final touch, we help clients create homes that reflect who they are.”

The goal? Beautiful spaces that don’t just photograph well—they feel like home. “It should feel approachable, elevated, and truly personal,” Girard says. “That’s what great design is all about.”

Walk into R Home Co. and it feels like stepping into the pages of a design magazine—except warmer, more welcoming, and tailored to real life. “The showroom is designed like a series of real rooms,” says owner Zack Girard. “It gives people the chance to imagine how it could work in their own home.”

From the start, Girard’s vision has been about more than just selling furniture. “We want to help people create spaces they actually want to live in. Cozy, elevated, functional—it’s got to check all the boxes.”

That philosophy shows up in every detail: natural materials like stone, wood, and linen; sculptural pieces that play with proportion; and a thoughtful blend of modern, mid-century, and classic styles. “We like contrast,” he says. “It keeps things interesting and helps clients discover what they really love.”

R Home’s design process is highly personal, starting with conversations about lifestyle, inspiration, and function. “It’s not about pushing a look,” Girard says. “It’s about helping people feel confident in their choices.”

And if you’ve ever struggled with too-big furniture or rooms that feel cluttered, you’re not alone. “Scale is everything,” he says. “And editing is key. Less can absolutely be more when it’s intentional.”

Located in Columbia’s creative North Village Arts District, R Home thrives in a community where design, art, and entrepreneurship overlap. “There’s an energy here that keeps us inspired,” says Girard. “It’s collaborative and full of passion.”

As for what’s next? “We’re growing,” he hints. “More room, more ideas, more ways to serve our clients. We can’t wait to share what’s coming.”

This fall, expect warm neutrals, sculptural shapes, and an expanded design experience at R Home. Their evolving showroom and new client offerings are designed to inspire—from the first mood board to the final install.
