David Gourley, general manager of Findlay Subaru in St. George, exhibits a strong handshake and a ready smile. His office reflects a man at the top of his game, whether riding his horses with family or running the Subaru operation. Judging by the thoroughbred photographs and a saddle that adorn his walls, he is passionate about both. Yet when it comes to the Subaru Love Promise program, his zeal is unmistakable.
The Subaru Love Promise: Dedicated to Making the World a Better Place
Subaru’s Love Promise is revealed in a colorful, floor-to-ceiling showroom display: Subaru loves the earth; Subaru loves to care; Subaru loves learning; and Subaru loves pets. The evidence is all around. The showroom “Living Wall” display, filters approximately 160 cubic feet of air per minute, infusing it with oxygen and reducing carbon dioxide for better overall air quality. The facility also features living plants that are well-cared for.
The entire staff is committed to ensure their love is felt by customers—and the community. The auto dealer’s annual golf tournament has raised well over $120,000 to support local search and rescue operations, with its 11th annual tournament generating about $24,000 alone.
Subaru also contributes to the Southwest Wildlife Foundation, supporting animal rescue. Blankets and coloring kits are donated to Intermountain Health Center and Jubilee of Trees for leukemia and heart and trauma patients. For the love of learning, Subaru regularly distributes cases of books to local elementary schools.
Dave likes to quote the Subaru motto: “Love. It’s what makes a Subaru a Subaru.” He adds, “A lot of people don’t know all the good we do. It is a well-kept secret, but the love is always there.”
