Young Chefs Academy Stirs Up Educational Fun

Summer is sizzling at Young Chefs Academy. In their immersive culinary camp experiences, each day brings new surprises and culinary delights as students cook and bake, learning exciting tips and tricks and participating in friendly culinary challenges to put their newfound skills to the test.

Managing owner Bhavna Gupta was born in India — the land of spices. She and her husband, along with their two daughters, have called North Texas their home for 13 years. Coming from a family in the catering business, Gupta was exposed to the culinary world from a young age and grew up with all the tastes, flavors, and smells of different world cuisines.

Cooking is a practical life skill that everyone needs. At YCA, Gupta shares her passion for teaching and the joy and value of cooking to children and teens at both her Allen and Frisco locations. She’s created a welcoming environment that provides a "real" setting so that students can take what they learn at YCA back to their homes and into their future. Gupta notes, “It’s not just learning how to cook, it’s learning life skills.”

Younger children hone their fine motor skills and hand-eye coordination, as well as safety and basic hygiene practices like hand washing and keeping surfaces clean. As they grow older, this skill becomes increasingly important as they transition to living on their own. Teens who can cook for themselves gain independence, make healthier choices when eating, and develop skills in time management and organization as they learn to think on their feet, adapt to situations, and find creative solutions when faced with obstacles.

Whether in classes, culinary camps, or one-of-a-kind party experiences filled with interactive activities, young chefs learn the joy and value of cooking. Planned around a unique theme, each class is an entirely new experience that incorporates culinary skills that build upon each other to progress over time into more complex food preparation and presentation.

A R.E.C.I.P.E. for Success
At YCA, students broaden their culinary knowledge, build self-esteem, practice teamwork, and increase knowledge of the world around them, cultivating an appreciation for cultural diversity. Their Code of Values signifies their commitment to building strong foundations that support team members, students, and families within our community focusing on Respect, Empathy, Children, Integrity, and a Passion driven Extraordinary experience.
