It’s no secret that communities across Montana contain incredible craft breweries. Across the state, local breweries are ready to serve their creations and satiate the thirst of those fresh off of a river day, hike, or any summer activity. The Gallatin Valley is no different, with multiple award-winning breweries to sample this season. Some of the best summertime beer to be found in the region include:
- AWS IPA: Bar 3 Brewing, Belgrade
Recently the recipient of the Small Brewery of the Year award at the 2025 Montana Beer Awards, Bar 3 Brewing makes tasty brews, while serving up barbecue staples like brisket, pulled pork, and burnt ends. Savor the flavors of their smoked meats with their AWS IPA, a classic American-style IPA that features a touch of citrus and makes for a refreshing brew this season.
- Little Blonde: 406 Brewing, Manhattan
Summer is the time to spend the days with family and friends, making it the perfect time to revisit 406 Brewing, formerly based in Bozeman but recently reopened in Manhattan a little over a year ago. In their new place, 406 Brewing has already been recognized with the Community Impact Award at the Montana Beer Awards. Join their community and sample their Little Blonde, a blonde ale that’s easily approachable and refreshing.
- Pat’s River Beer: MAP Brewing Company, Bozeman
MAP Brewing Co. was named the Large Brewery of the Year at the Montana Beer Awards, and their Pat’s River Beer is quickly becoming a summertime staple. Summer days on the river call for something light and easy-drinking. Pat's River Beer is just that, a beautifully drinkable American light lager that is the perfect way to cool down when the heat turns up.
- Wildlands Mexican Lager: Bridger Brewing, Bozeman
Mexican-style lagers have quickly gone from non-existent to prolific in the United States – and that’s certainly true in Montana, too. Their light, crisp profiles make them a versatile choice for all summer activities. Bridger’s Wildlands is a refreshing Mexican-Style Lager with Pilsner malt, flaked corn, and a crisp, clean finish—perfect for sipping or pairing with pub grub.

- Tippy Truck Blonde: Katabatic Brewing Co., Livingston
While lighter beers are great for the summer weather, if you’re looking for a beer that teeters on the malty side of balanced while delivering the refreshment you need, try Katabatic Brewing Co.’s Tippy Truck Blonde. Their honey ale is made with a clean finishing American yeast, American Malt and hops, and honey from Harlowton here in Montana.. The honey ale offers a very fragrant aroma of honey, flowers and grain. Sweet to start, and dry to finish.
