Two historic Sumner County venues played host to two rounds of the 2023 Tennessee Songwriters Week competition. Portland’s Temple Theater hosted the 1st round on Feb. 11 in which 15 performers performed their original songs. The 2nd round was held at Gallatin’s Palace Theater on Feb. 25, and it showcased 19 singer/songwriters who had already won preliminary competitions.
The bluegrass trio Garrett Boys won the competition, and they will perform at the grand finale event at Nashville’s legendary Bluebird Café.
Both events were sponsored locally by Sumner County Tourism, with additional support provided by the Tennessee Department of Tourism Development.
